Dark Souls III miracles are Faith-focused spells for healing, support, utility, and lightning or dark attacks. To use one, attune it at a bonfire, equip a compatible catalyst, and spend the required FP when casting. Individual miracles have different stat requirements, slot costs, and acquisition routes.
How to use miracles
- Obtain the miracle. Miracles come from merchants, pickups, NPC questlines, covenant rewards, and boss-soul transposition.
- Attune it at a bonfire. Open the bonfire menu and choose the attunement option. You need enough available attunement slots for the spell.
- Equip a compatible catalyst. Miracles are cast with a suitable talisman or chime; having the spell attuned alone is not enough.
- Select the miracle and cast. Cycle to the attuned spell and use the catalyst’s attack control. Controls vary by platform. Casting consumes FP, so check that you have enough for the spell.
FromSoftware’s DARK SOULS III web manual explains the general magic process, including attuning spells at a bonfire and using an appropriate catalyst. Consult the control layout for your platform if the cast input is unclear.
What miracles do
Miracles are not limited to healing. Their uses include restoring health, gradually recovering health, curing status ailments, strengthening attacks or defenses, providing information or travel utility, creating shockwaves, and dealing lightning or dark damage.
- Healing and recovery: Restore health immediately or over time, depending on the spell.
- Support and protection: Improve offense or defense, or relieve an ailment.
- Utility: Provide effects beyond direct combat, including travel or information-related functions.
- Offense: Attack with lightning, dark damage, or shockwaves.
Requirements and spell checklist
Check each miracle’s Faith requirement, FP cost, and attunement-slot use before building around it. Faith is the primary attribute, but one listed miracle also has an Intelligence requirement. The consulted spell references provide individual figures; values are reference-guide data, not a verified audit against every current game patch.

Where to find miracles
Acquisition depends on the individual spell; there is no single merchant who sells every miracle. Some are purchased from Irina of Carim or Karla after delivering a Divine Braille Tome. Others are found in the world, awarded through NPC questlines or covenant ranks, or obtained by transposing a boss soul.

DLC miracles and checklist scope

Choosing miracles for a build
Choose spells around the job you need them to do and the cost of fitting them into your build. A healing spell, a defensive buff, and a ranged attack compete for FP and attunement space, while some acquisition routes require more progression than others.
- For recovery: Compare immediate healing with gradual recovery and consider the FP and slot commitment.
- For support: Match buffs or protection to the encounter and your other equipment or spell choices.
- For ranged damage: Compare lightning and dark options against the target and your available Faith investment.
- For completion: Track each spell’s distinct source, including DLC, covenant, quest, and transposition requirements.
No miracle is universally best: the right choice changes with PvE or PvP, your stats, the encounter, available FP, and how many attunement slots you can spare. Exact balance values may be patch-sensitive; the references cited here do not document a comprehensive current-patch audit.
