Yes. Monster Hunter Wilds supports cross-play between PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC, so players on those platforms can hunt together. Capcom confirmed the feature on September 25, 2024. Its May 30 trailer reveal was a separate announcement, and the later Switch 2 announcement has not confirmed cross-play for that version.
Which platforms support Monster Hunter Wilds cross-play?
Capcom’s September 25, 2024 announcement explicitly named PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC. It said cross-play lets players enjoy the game together regardless of platform. That includes a Steam player joining friends on Xbox, within the platforms Capcom listed. Capcom’s announcement described this as a first for the Monster Hunter series.

Was cross-play announced with the new trailer?
Not in the same announcement. On May 30, 2024, Capcom USA’s Joseph Bustos wrote on the PlayStation Blog that new information and the latest trailer had been shown during State of Play. That post focused on the game’s living world, dynamic environments and monsters. Capcom formally confirmed cross-play in a separate release on September 25, 2024.
The original release date Capcom announced was February 28, 2025, and its later sales announcement confirms the game was released that day. Read the May 2024 trailer and gameplay details and Capcom’s September 2024 cross-play announcement.

Is cross-play confirmed for the Switch 2 version?
No. Capcom announced on June 8, 2026 that a Nintendo Switch 2 version was in development, with more details to come in future official updates. That announcement did not say whether Switch 2 players will be able to play with PS5, Xbox or PC players. Treat the original three-platform cross-play confirmation as separate from the Switch 2 version until Capcom clarifies its support. Capcom’s Switch 2 announcement also says the paid expansion Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance is planned for 2027.
Does cross-play mean cross-save or shared progression?
No such feature is established by Capcom’s cited cross-play announcement. Cross-play confirms that players on supported platforms can play together; it does not, by itself, confirm that save data or progression transfers between platforms. Capcom’s Switch 2 announcement does not settle that question either.

Do you need a subscription to play online?
Capcom USA’s February 12, 2025 launch-trailer post says full-version PS5 online multiplayer requires PlayStation Plus. That is a PlayStation-specific subscription note; it does not establish the online subscription requirements for Xbox or PC. See the launch-trailer post.

Capcom reported that Monster Hunter Wilds had sold more than 10 million units worldwide as of its March 31, 2025 announcement. That figure is for Wilds, not the whole franchise. Separately, Capcom cited more than 103 million cumulative series sales as of June 30, 2024, and more than 127 million as of March 31, 2026. Capcom’s March 2025 sales announcement reports the Wilds milestone; its June 2026 release gives the later series total.
