Games made Season 5 the final season, ending it on May 30, 2025; after that, the game was no longer available for online play or new downloads through the storefronts named by the publisher. Some players can still play offline, but only if they downloaded the latest version and logged in during Season 5 before the cutoff.
What happened when MultiVersus returned?
Warner Bros. Games officially launched MultiVersus on May 28, 2024 as a free-to-play platform fighter. At launch, it was available on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC through Steam and the Epic Games Store. The publisher announced cross-play and cross-progression across supported platforms. Warner Bros. Games’ launch announcement also described the game as a crossover drawing characters from Warner Bros. Discovery franchises.
The launch added the PvE mode Rifts alongside competitive player-versus-player matches. The announcement named The Joker, Jason Voorhees, Banana Guard, and Agent Smith as roster examples; that list is illustrative, not a complete roster.
Can you still play MultiVersus online or download it?
No. WB Games said Season 5 was the final season and content update, and it ran through May 30, 2025. After the season ended, online play and new downloads through the storefronts identified by the publisher ceased. The WB Games Season 5 FAQ, posted January 31, 2025, is the publisher’s guidance on the shutdown and remaining access.
Storefront availability can vary by region. For example, the PlayStation India game listing checked on October 8, 2026 says “Not available for purchase”; that regional listing does not establish the status of every storefront worldwide. View the PlayStation India listing.
Who can still play MultiVersus offline?
Offline access is conditional, not a way for new players to get the game now. WB Games said players had to download the latest game version and log in during Season 5, before May 30, 2025. The publisher described offline access as available “for the foreseeable future,” which is not a guarantee that it will remain available permanently.

Players who met that requirement can use the offline options WB Games listed:
- Solo play against AI.
- Local play for up to four players.
- The Lab training mode.
If you wanted offline access on more than one supported platform, WB Games said you needed to complete the download-and-login process on each platform. Access on one platform should not be assumed to preserve it on another.
What kind of game was MultiVersus?
MultiVersus was built around competitive 2v2 platform fighting, with 1v1 and four-player free-for-all modes also described on the PlayStation game page. That page lists training, ranked competition, online and local play, cross-platform play and progression, character-specific abilities, and customizable perk loadouts. Those descriptions explain the game’s feature set; they do not mean that its online modes remain available after the shutdown.
