The free demo for Monster Hunter Stories 3: Twisted Reflection launched on February 5, 2026—not in October. It lets players try the opening portion of the game, and its save data can carry into the full version. The game is already available on Xbox Series X|S and other platforms; Xbox on PC is scheduled to follow on November 18, 2026.
Where to download the demo
Capcom announced the free trial on February 5, 2026. It is available through the Nintendo eShop, PlayStation Store, Xbox Store and Steam for PC. Steam describes it as a free trial of the beginning portion of the game; Capcom France describes it as covering the first chapters. Neither source specifies a playtime, so there is no confirmed number of hours to expect. Steam and Capcom France
What the demo includes
The game is a turn-based RPG set in the Monster Hunter universe. You play as a Rider, bonding with and raising monsters, and the opening portion introduces its story and systems. Capcom highlights character appearance customization, new battle systems and Ranger tasks such as restoring habitats.
Can you transfer demo progress to the full game?
Yes. Capcom and Steam say demo save data can be transferred to the full game, allowing you to continue your progress there. This is demo-to-full-game save transfer; it is separate from Xbox Play Anywhere’s continuity between Xbox and Xbox on PC.

Full game release and Xbox on PC date
Monster Hunter Stories 3: Twisted Reflection released on March 13, 2026, for Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC via Steam. Xbox Wire’s October 7, 2026 update says the Xbox Series X|S version is available and the Xbox on PC edition is scheduled for November 18, 2026. The latter is a later platform release, not the date the demo first became available. Xbox Wire and Capcom France
The Xbox on PC edition supports Xbox Play Anywhere. Capcom PR team member Toshiaki Matsuda said players can continue on their preferred device with save data, additional game content and achievements carried over. That statement concerns Xbox Play Anywhere across Xbox and Xbox on PC, not demo-save transfers between unrelated platform ecosystems.
