If Monopoly Plus crashes or will not start on PS4, work through these nine general PS4 troubleshooting steps in order, testing the game after each one and noting any error code. Ubisoft recommends this measured approach, but its guidance and PlayStation’s launch advice do not establish a current Monopoly Plus-specific cause or guarantee that any step will fix the problem.
Before you start
Keep track of what happens: does the game fail to launch, close during play, or show an error code? Note when the failure occurs and whether it changes after each check. That makes it easier to describe a repeatable problem if you need support. Ubisoft’s PS4 troubleshooting guide says to test after each step. PlayStation also advises gathering the error code, a description of the issue, steps to reproduce it, and a screenshot or video when possible.
Try these nine checks in order

Install available PS4 system software updates
Check for and install available PS4 system software updates. Ubisoft notes that an outdated operating system can cause performance issues and recommends installing mandatory updates. Test Monopoly Plus after the update completes.

Fully restart the PS4
Restart the console, then launch the game again. If a normal restart does not help, fully power the console off, wait briefly, and turn it back on. Ubisoft lists a full power cycle as a possible performance troubleshooting step, and PlayStation’s game-launch guidance also recommends restarting the PS4.

Try launching while offline
Disconnect the PS4 from the internet in its network settings, or unplug its Ethernet cable, and then try to launch the game. If it starts offline, reconnect afterward and see whether the problem returns. Ubisoft presents this as a diagnostic check; it does not identify offline play as a permanent fix.

Restore licenses
On PS4, go to Settings > Account Management > Restore Licenses, choose Restore, and test the game again. Ubisoft says restoring licenses may help when a game or content is unavailable or frequently crashes; PlayStation includes it in its launch troubleshooting. Menu labels may vary slightly by system software version.

Check that the game and its content finished installing
Make sure Monopoly Plus and any related content have finished downloading and installing before launching it. Ubisoft warns that problems can occur when a game or content is started before installation is complete. Check the PS4’s downloads or notifications for pending or incomplete items, let them finish, then test again.

Check the installation drive
If the game is installed on USB extended storage, Ubisoft suggests reinstalling it on the PS4’s internal storage as a diagnostic option. This is not evidence that the external drive is defective. If you use a disc copy, check that the disc is inserted and recognized; storage or disc checks apply only to the installation type you use.

Rebuild the database in Safe Mode
Ubisoft and PlayStation include rebuilding the PS4 database among troubleshooting options. This requires starting the console in Safe Mode and selecting Rebuild Database. Follow PlayStation’s Safe Mode instructions and back up important data first: Ubisoft warns that some Safe Mode options can result in data loss. Do not select other Safe Mode options unless you understand their effects.

Reinstall Monopoly Plus
If the earlier checks do not resolve the problem, delete the game and reinstall it. PlayStation recommends deleting and redownloading a PS4 game that will not start, and Ubisoft says reinstalling can sometimes resolve issues associated with a game. For a digital copy, download it again from your library; for a disc copy, reinstall from the disc and allow any updates or content to finish before launching.

Compare with another PS4, then contact support
If possible, try the game on another PS4. Ubisoft suggests this comparison to help distinguish among a game, internet, or system issue; it does not by itself prove which component is responsible. If the problem persists, contact PlayStation Support with any error code, what happens, the steps that reproduce the crash, and a screenshot or video if available.
Should you initialize the PS4?
Initialization is not a routine first step for a Monopoly Plus crash. PlayStation’s instructions for error CE-41839-5 place initialization after earlier troubleshooting and warn that it erases all data on console storage. Consider it only as a later escalation if the relevant PlayStation guidance or support recommends it, and back up important data first.
