Capcom has acknowledged two distinct Monster Hunter Wilds problems at different times: a conditional crash reported in August 2025 and frame-rate drops in some environments noted in August 2026. The later official notice said measures were being taken for the performance issue; it does not confirm that every problem is fixed or that all players are affected.
What caused the reported Monster Hunter Wilds crash?
On August 13, 2025, GameSpot reported that Capcom’s official Monster Hunter Status account acknowledged a crash issue reported on all platforms after an update. Capcom described a specific trigger: “We have confirmed that the game may crash when you faint and return to camp during Fast Travel or a quest under certain conditions.” The account said it was working on a fix and planned a patch, Ver.1.021.01.00. GameSpot’s August 13 report documents what Capcom said at the time; it does not establish the current status of that crash.

What did Capcom say about frame-rate drops?
A separate official update summary, Ver.1.042.00.02, dated August 14, 2026, said Capcom was taking measures to address frame-rate drops in some environments after Ver.1.042.00.01. This is a later performance issue, not the 2025 crash report. The wording describes a response in progress, not a confirmed universal or final fix. The note also does not establish how many players are affected or rank the issue’s severity. Check Capcom’s official update notes for current information.
Driver guidance in the August 2026 notice
For PC players, that notice recommended NVIDIA GeForce driver version 581.57 or newer, and AMD Radeon 25.9.1 or newer. Capcom also warned that AMD Radeon driver versions 25.10.2 and higher had issues on certain PCs, naming the RX 5500 XT and RX 7800 XT as examples. These are date-specific instructions from the August 2026 notice, not permanent compatibility guidance; check the latest official notes before changing drivers.

Hunters can look forward to tracking down monsters with an array of new moves, special abilities, equipment, and more. The action also now flows seamlessly from cutscenes to gameplay, resulting in a new level of immersion.
Does this affect every platform or player?
Capcom lists Monster Hunter Wilds for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. The 2025 crash report described an issue reported on all platforms, but said it could happen only under certain conditions. The 2026 performance note refers to frame-rate drops in some environments. Neither statement means every player—or every platform—has the same problem. The available sources provide no count or percentage of affected players. Capcom’s game page lists the supported platforms.
