The intended line was: “Know that it will cost you your life.” A report in October 2023 said players later observed that the subtitle had been corrected after an update, though the cited patch notes did not list the fix.
What appeared in Sindel’s subtitles?
The error was reported in the cinematic before Sindel and Reiko’s fight in Story Mode. Instead of the spoken line, the subtitle showed a string resembling an internal file or asset name. The Loadout rendered it as “MK12_148_154.11,” while WhatCulture and the Sindel wiki rendered it as “MK12_148_154,11”; the reports differ on the punctuation. The Loadout’s report and WhatCulture’s report identify the same scene and intended line.

WhatCulture attributed an explanation to NetherRealm Studios: subtitle text was missing and had been replaced by an MK file name. The studio’s wording, as reproduced by WhatCulture, said the line was supposed to be something to the effect of “know that it will cost you your life.” No individual developer was named.
Was the subtitle bug fixed?
The Loadout reported on October 3, 2023, that players had observed the subtitle appearing fixed after an update. The report also noted that the patch notes it cited did not mention this specific correction. That supports describing the fix as player-reported, not as an officially documented patch-note item.

The intended subtitle was: “Know that it will cost you your life.” The glitch replaced that line with the internal-looking string; it was a subtitle display error in the cinematic, not a different line of dialogue.
