If Mortal Kombat 1’s Story Mode audio sounds wrong, first identify whether dialogue is missing or quiet, all cinematic audio is absent, a narrator is describing the action, voices are in the wrong language, or sound is out of sync with the picture. Those symptoms point to different checks. Start with the game’s reversible audio settings; if a reproducible problem persists, use WB Games’ support route for your platform.
Start by identifying what sounds wrong
Note the affected scene and whether the issue occurs throughout Story Mode or only in a particular moment. This helps you avoid changing unrelated settings.
- No spoken dialogue or dialogue that is too quiet: Check the Dialogue slider.
- Missing or quiet sound throughout cinematics: Check the Cinematics slider.
- A voice describing what is happening on screen: Check Descriptive Audio.
- Voices in an unexpected language: Check the system language and the voice options available for your game’s region and SKU.
- Voices or other audio out of sync with the picture: Check the mix as a reversible diagnostic step, then gather details for support if the fault continues.
Check Dialogue, Cinematics, and the mix preset
In Mortal Kombat 1’s audio options, inspect Dialogue and Cinematics separately. Raise only the slider that matches the problem; avoid changing several controls at once, so you can tell whether a change helped. The game also has Music, Announcer, Ambience, and Sound Effects sliders, but they are not the first controls to adjust for a dialogue-specific problem.
If the relevant level already looks appropriate, try the Default audio mix preset as a controlled baseline. MK1 also offers other audio mix presets and lets you configure directional audio for your audio hardware. Restoring or testing a preset is a diagnostic check, not a guaranteed repair. Turn off Descriptive Audio if a narrator is unexpected
MK1’s Descriptive Audio option narrates Story cinematics. If the extra voice is describing events on screen rather than characters speaking, inspect Accessibility > Descriptive Audio and switch it off if you do not want narration. This setting is distinct from the Dialogue and Cinematics volume controls.
Check language availability before changing other settings
MK1 uses the console or PC system language when that language is available for the game. WB Games also notes that voice and subtitle availability can vary by location. If spoken dialogue is in an unexpected language, check the device’s system language and whether the installed or purchased game SKU for your region includes the voice option you want. Changing volume or mix settings will not add a language that is unavailable for that version. See WB Games’ Mortal Kombat 1 language options.

If audio is still missing or out of sync
If the settings checks do not resolve the problem, collect enough detail to make a support report useful:
- Your platform: PC, PlayStation 5, or Xbox.
- The game version, if available.
- Your audio output arrangement, such as the device and connection in use.
- The exact Story Mode scene affected and whether the issue is repeatable.
- The symptom: missing dialogue, missing cinematic sound, or audio/video desynchronization.
Then use the platform-specific Mortal Kombat 1 options in WB Games Support. The hub provides PC troubleshooting and bug-report paths for PC and console versions. Community posts describe issues such as “no dialogue” and audio sync problems, but those reports do not establish how widespread a fault is or confirm a universal workaround.
