Netflix’s FIFA World Cup: Launch Edition is a streamlined soccer game you play on a TV using a phone as the controller. Netflix says it is now playable, included with all Netflix membership plans at no extra charge, and supports up to four players. It is a World Cup companion experience—not a boxed console game or a new EA SPORTS FC release.
What is Netflix’s FIFA game?
FIFA World Cup: Launch Edition is a football simulation developed by Delphi Interactive and offered exclusively through Netflix Games. Netflix announced a June 11, 2026 launch; its July 27 update said the game was playable. The game was built around the 2026 men’s World Cup, whose tournament had ended by the time of that update.
Netflix describes the experience as streamlined and designed for accessible TV play. FIFA has framed it as the beginning of a broader product journey, rather than a one-off release. The two organizations have not published a detailed feature-by-feature roadmap for future updates.
Is Netflix’s FIFA game free?
The game is included with Netflix membership at no additional charge. Netflix’s July 27, 2026 update says it is included in all Netflix membership plans. “Free” here means no separate game purchase or game fee beyond the membership; it does not mean Netflix access itself is free. Netflix Tudum’s game update has the later membership details.

- Scan the on-screen QR code with a phone. The code connects the phone to the game session.
- Use the phone as your controller. The described setup uses the phone for control, rather than requiring a separate gamepad.
- Add players if you want a group match. Netflix and FIFA say the game supports up to four players.
The official setup descriptions do not specify a particular phone model or say that a separate controller or accessory is required. For the launch setup, see Netflix’s June 4 announcement and FIFA’s release notice.
What teams and players are in the game?
The launch announcement lists all 48 teams and 16 tournament stadiums. Netflix’s July update gives a player count of 1,248. These are the figures the companies announced for the game; they do not, on their own, establish details such as individual player ratings or modes.

Where is FIFA World Cup: Launch Edition available?
Availability is regional, and the official announcements give different snapshots rather than a definitive country list for October 8, 2026. Netflix’s June 4 release said TV games were available in 20 countries, including Brazil. Its July 27 article described Brazil and Germany as limited test markets, then listed a wider rollout that excluded both. The sources do not explain the difference, so check Netflix’s Games area in your country for current availability instead of relying on either list as current.
What happens next for Netflix’s FIFA game?
FIFA’s May 28, 2026 Digital Football Strategy said expansion across consoles, PC, and mobile was planned, and described the Netflix game as a foundation for broader growth. FIFA also said updates would add depth and features, but the cited announcements provide no dated schedule or feature-by-feature plan. Those platform ambitions are future plans, not confirmation that the current Launch Edition is already available on consoles, PC, or mobile.

FIFA announced its Netflix Games partnership with Delphi Interactive in December 2025, describing a reimagined football simulation planned for summer 2026 and an initial release on select TVs in certain countries. The June 2026 announcement supplied the final title and launch details. FIFA’s later strategy places the title in a broader, multi-partner gaming ecosystem; it does not establish a direct quality, realism, or performance comparison with console football games.
