Nex Playground is a compact, TV-connected console built around camera-tracked movement: players use their bodies to control games instead of holding a conventional gamepad. It can be a good fit for short, active family sessions, but its five included games are only a starter set; most of the advertised catalog requires a paid Play Pass. It is not a like-for-like replacement for a Nintendo Switch 2 or Xbox Series S, and the phrase “sold out” should not be treated as a current stock report.
What is Nex Playground?
The cube connects to a television through HDMI and uses an onboard wide-angle camera and AI-powered motion engine to track players. The included remote is for setup and menu navigation; it is not the main way to play. Nex describes the experience as movement-first, making the system a different proposition from a conventional controller-based console. Nex’s product page
What games come with it, and what does Play Pass add?
The console includes five games: Fruit Ninja, Starri, Party Fowl, Whack-a-Mole Deluxe, and Go Keeper. Nex says Play Pass unlocks a catalog of 60+ games; that count can change as the library changes. Nex also says individual games are not sold, so buyers who want more than the starter set need to consider the subscription rather than planning to buy selected titles separately. Play Pass price and household coverage
On the official Play Pass page accessed October 8, 2026, Nex listed $49 for three months or $89 for 12 months and said one pass covers up to two consoles in one household. These are the page’s listed US-dollar terms on that date, not a promise of a permanent price; check the current terms and region before buying. Nex Play Pass

How much room does Nex Playground need?
Nex recommends about 6 ft × 6 ft of play space. That is a practical living-room constraint: clear the area in front of the television and account for nearby furniture and other people before starting. Nex also cautions that some physical challenges may be difficult for children under six, so age alone is not a guarantee that every game will suit every child. Nex’s product page
Is Nex Playground safe for kids, and what about privacy?
Nex says motion processing happens locally on the console and video is not processed in the cloud. The company says some games temporarily capture video to create local replays or highlights, and that those clips are not saved. Those are Nex’s privacy descriptions; they have not been independently technically validated in the sources cited here. Nex’s product page

What do reviewers say about the experience?
In a review published December 17, 2025, TechRadar’s Ural Garrett said he had owned the system for about a year and had played a large share of its games, including starter and Play Pass titles. He found setup quick and motion play approachable, and saw appeal for family sessions and light fitness. His criticisms were that games had less depth than mainstream console titles and that some had frame-rate problems. Those are Garrett’s reported observations, not results from testing for this article. TechRadar review
Is Nex Playground worth buying?
It makes the most sense for families who want short, movement-based group play and have room to clear a play area. The five included games provide a way to start without subscribing, but the larger library is tied to Play Pass, so the ongoing cost matters if the starter set is not enough. If your priority is deep, long-form games, conventional controls, or a broad solo library, a mainstream console is a better match. Nex Playground is best viewed as a focused family active-play option, not a replacement for one.

Price and availability: what “sold out” does—and does not—mean
“Sold out” is not established as a current, market-wide status. Inventory depends on retailer, country, bundle, and date, so check the seller serving your location rather than relying on a headline or past promotion. The official UK product page accessed October 8, 2026 listed £215 on sale against a £269.99 regular price and linked Amazon UK, Smyths, and Argos; that is a time- and market-specific listing, not a stable price recommendation.
