The launch promised a code in each doll for digital items, but WowWee later said it had voluntarily separated the brand from Roblox after receiving a cease-and-desist letter. WowWee’s current product page still mentions an online game; it does not confirm that the game is on Roblox or that launch-era codes work today.
What My Avastars is
My Avastars is a WowWee fashion-doll line built around changing a character’s look. The dolls have a blocky silhouette and flat surfaces for mix-and-match clothing, reusable stickers, and avatar-style customization. WowWee’s current product page describes each doll as 11 inches tall and lists clothing items, shoes, hair, reusable stickers, and a collector card. The page says each box can produce more than 100 looks. WowWee’s product page does not give a publication date for those details.
The launch release named the first three characters as KawaiiPie^^, A_VibeThng, and Dreamer_3.0. Each was announced with a signature outfit, a mystery bonus outfit, and reusable sticker sheets. At the time, WowWee said the dolls were intended for ages 6 and up, with an October 2022 retail launch and a $24.99 suggested retail price. Those are launch-era details, not a current price or a claim about present availability. WowWee’s June 21, 2022 announcement also named Walmart, Amazon, Target, and Macy’s as planned retailers.
How the planned Roblox connection was supposed to work
At launch, WowWee said each doll would include a code redeemable in My Avastars: RP, a Roblox roleplaying experience being developed with Gamefam. The company said players could bring their dolls into the game and unlock digital fashions, hairstyles, and facial features. In other words, the physical toy was meant to connect to a specific game through a code, rather than serve only as a Roblox-themed collectible.

- The Monster High x Wednesday collection pays tribute to the darkly witty and downright eerie television series with a screamium line of dolls.
- This Bianca Barclay doll reimagines Wednesday’s rival through a Monster High lens. Sirens makes waves, and Bianca does just that with her striking style!
- Her purple Nevermore Academy uniform is accented by iridescent shell earrings, a golden siren amulet, and a waist belt featuring the school crest.
- Scaly tights and a satchel backpack add a fan-sea touch to Bianca’s academic look, while the heels of her platform boots are references from the series.
- Check out the Monster High x Wednesday line for more delightfully dire dolls. They make memorable gifts for collectors and fans alike. Each sold separately, subject to availability.
That connection was presented as a two-way creative concept: customize an avatar on screen, then play with a physical doll and its interchangeable looks. WowWee VP of Marketing and Operations Andrew Yanofsky described the doll’s shape, flat surfaces, and peel-and-repeat stickers as design choices intended to encourage children to change and rearrange their dolls as they do their avatars. Gamefam CEO Joe Ferencz called it the first time a toy and Roblox game had been developed concurrently; that was his promotional characterization, not an independently established industry finding. The launch release contains both statements.
What changed after the announcement
On August 3, 2022, WowWee said it had received a cease-and-desist letter from Roblox and had voluntarily disassociated My Avastars from the platform. That is WowWee’s account of the change, stated in its response to the lawsuit; it should not be read as a neutral judicial finding about the platform relationship. WowWee’s statement described the product as intended to bring children offline through a hybrid model that used digital avatar customization in physical play.

The current WowWee product page continues to say that play can continue in a free online game, but the available product information does not identify that game as the original Roblox experience. It also does not confirm that the codes announced in 2022 can still be redeemed. Treat the Roblox game and code redemption as historical launch plans unless WowWee confirms their present status directly.

Roblox sued WowWee in 2022. A September 3, 2024 order from the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California discusses My Avastars and the parties’ arguments about Roblox’s terms. In the passage relevant to the dolls, the court said the terms in effect when they launched did not clearly prohibit their creation, but also did not expressly permit it. The court granted summary judgment on a particular affirmative defense as to copyright and trade-dress claims. That limited ruling is not a finding that the dolls were broadly authorized by Roblox, and it does not by itself establish the case’s complete outcome. Read the court order.
