How to play Connections Sports Edition
Connections gives you 16 words to sort into four groups of four based on a shared link. The groups are color-coded yellow, green, blue, and purple, from easiest to trickiest. Sports Edition, brought to solvers by The Athletic, uses the same rules as the regular game. See the New York Times Help Center guide to Connections.
Hints for Connections Sports Edition #380
Try each clue before moving to the next. They point toward the themes without listing the answers.
- Yellow: Think of titles for the person calling the shots from the sidelines or dugout.
- Green: These quarterbacks were selected first overall in the NFL Draft.
- Blue: These franchises no longer exist under these names.
- Purple: The letter C can stand for leadership, a position, a team, or a court role.

The green and blue themes can be easy to confuse because both concern team history: green is specifically about quarterbacks taken first overall in the NFL Draft, while blue is about former MLB team names. The original hint wording reported for those two groups repeated the green clue for blue; the clue above distinguishes them.
Which October 8 puzzle is #380?
The date and number matter: #380 is the October 8, 2025 Sports Edition board. Parade’s guide for October 8, 2026 identifies a different board, #745, with different groups and answers. If you are looking for the puzzle released in 2026, #380 is not the right answer guide.
