About the daily puzzle

The New York Times Help Center describes Connections as “a word game that challenges players to find themes between words.” Its four color-coded groups range from Yellow, the easiest, to Purple, the trickiest; some words may appear to fit more than one theme. The daily puzzle releases at midnight in the player’s timezone.

The game is available through the NYT Games website and apps, the News app, and NYTimes.com/theathletic. The Help Center says it can be played for free without registration or sign-in. The archive goes back to June 12, 2023, and is available to All Access and Games subscribers; archived games affect some statistics but not streaks. Check the official help page for current access terms.
