Squid Game: Unleashed is a free-to-download online multiplayer action game for compatible Android and Apple mobile devices. Netflix announced it in November 2024 and launched it globally on December 17, 2024. The game turns challenges inspired by the series into competitive rounds, but it cannot be played offline. Whether you need a Netflix membership is less clear: current app-store descriptions say no, while Netflix’s Help Center lists one as a requirement.
What is Squid Game: Unleashed?
Squid Game: Unleashed is a mobile multiplayer game inspired by the Netflix series. Netflix announced it on November 19, 2024, with a global launch date of December 17, ahead of the show’s Season 2 return on December 26. The announcement called it a fast-paced competition featuring deadly challenges from the series and new games based on childhood activities. Netflix described it as “a multiplayer battle royale game” in its launch announcement.
Netflix’s Help Center classifies the title as an action game and lists multiplayer as its player count. Its description names familiar trials such as Red Light, Green Light and Glass Bridge. Despite Netflix’s “party royale” wording elsewhere, it is an online game, not a single-player adaptation: the Help Center says offline play is unavailable.
What devices can run it?
Netflix lists Android phones and tablets, iPhone, and iPad as supported device categories. Its published minimums are Android 14 or later, iOS 16 or later, and at least 2 GB of RAM. Requirements and availability can vary by device or region, so check the current listing for your country before installing.

- Apple: iPhone or iPad with iOS 16 or later and at least 2 GB RAM, according to Netflix’s published requirements.
- Either platform: an internet connection is needed because the game has no offline play.
The Netflix Help Center support page is the source for the compatibility minimums; the regional Apple and Google Play listings are the place to confirm current app availability and device-specific details.
Do you need a Netflix membership?
Official sources do not agree. The current descriptions on the Apple App Store and Google Play say a Netflix membership is not required. The Netflix Help Center, however, includes an active Netflix membership among the requirements. It also notes that non-members received limited-time access beginning at launch, with an earlier date for Canada and Mexico—a launch-era detail that does not settle the current policy.

Because the wording conflicts, do not assume membership-free access is available everywhere. Check the app listing in your country and Netflix’s current support page before downloading; access terms may change by region or over time.
How have updates and promotions worked?
Netflix has tied game content and rewards to the series’ seasons, but past promotions should not be treated as currently available offers. Its official game site described a Season 3 Play-Along Challenge starting June 27 for a limited time, with rewards for watching episodes and additions including characters, games, challenges, chat, and Crews. Netflix’s Season 2 update announcement also described new games and characters plus a Watch Along feature that gave members rewards for episodes completed.
