How the PvE and PvP builds differ

2024 PvE build: Rapier and Spear DPS
The PvE pairing is designed to layer damage-over-time effects and debuffs without giving up burst potential. The Spear supplies crowd control and debuffs; the Rapier adds bleed damage, burst, and area damage. The guide presents this as an active setup that depends on maintaining effects, rather than a simple rotation you can leave on autopilot.
Rapier abilities in the Evade variant
- Tondo: Use it to build and maintain damage over time.
- Flurry: A high-damage cooldown with area-damage potential.
- Evade: A low-cooldown ability the guide recommends using frequently, particularly before another ability.
Expect frequent inputs and attention to debuff upkeep. The guide recommends the Finisher artifact for Rapier-focused builds; treat that as its in-game equipment recommendation for the dated setup, not evidence that it is optimal in a later balance version.

2024 PvP build: Spear Rapier Dive
The PvP setup is built around reaching a chosen opponent, applying pressure with the Spear, and preserving ways to withdraw. The Spear is the source of single-target pressure and crowd control; the Rapier adds mobility, defense, burst, and control options that can help begin a Spear combination.
Choose armor weight for your tradeoff
- Light armor: The guide frames this as the more mobile, burst-focused option. It favors evasion and pressure.
- Medium armor: The more survivable option, while retaining burst potential. It favors resilience over maximum mobility.
Neither weight is a universal winner: the choice depends on the balance version and the player’s context. The guide’s overall plan is to dive toward a selected target while retaining escape options, rather than commit to a fight with no disengage route.
What the October 2024 Rapier patch changed
Amazon Games’ Season of Opportunity release notes, dated 14 October 2024, document two Rapier changes relevant to advice from that period:

These are patch changes, not damage-per-second measurements. In particular, the shorter duration makes upkeep an important consideration when following the PvE guide’s damage-over-time approach. The figures describe the October 2024 patch and should not be assumed to describe the live game in 2026.

The guide pages describe recommendations last updated on 14 October 2024, while Icy Veins later recorded a high-DPS PvE Rapier build addition on 23 October 2024 and further guide updates in 2025. That history is a reason to treat the setups above as a 2024 snapshot, not assume an unchanged build remains optimal. No source here establishes a best Rapier build for the live game as of 8 October 2026, or a single setup that is best in both PvE and PvP.
For historical context only, Amazon Games’ 18 January 2021 Rapier introduction described Blood as focused on bleed stacks and Flourish and Finish, and Grace as focused on evasion, counterattacking, and blade work. It also stated, “The Rapier’s attacks scale off of a character’s Dexterity score.” That is an original design description from 2021, not confirmation of current scaling or balance.
