Blaze Entertainment announced NEOGEO Arcade 1 and the Super Pocket NEOGEO Edition in March 2025, but “this summer” referred to the original 2025 release plan—not an upcoming launch in 2026. The cartridge and handheld are separate products: Arcade 1 contains six games for compatible Evercade hardware, while the pocket handheld has 14 games built in and accepts Evercade cartridges.
What are NEOGEO Arcade 1 and Super Pocket NEOGEO?
They are two distinct products announced by Blaze Entertainment as part of its Evercade and Super Pocket retro-gaming ranges. NEOGEO Arcade 1 is a physical cartridge; the Super Pocket NEOGEO Edition is a handheld with games built in. The announcement framed the products around NEOGEO’s 35th anniversary. Méga Force’s April 1, 2025 coverage of the announcement carries the original product details.

NEOGEO Arcade 1: six games on a cartridge
The Arcade 1 cartridge includes Metal Slug, The King of Fighters 2000, Shock Troopers, Magician Lord, Sengoku, and Ironclad. Blaze identified it as arcade range cartridge number 16 and said it would work with Evercade hardware, including Evercade Alpha, as well as HyperMegaTech! Super Pocket consoles.
Super Pocket NEOGEO Edition: 14 games built in
The handheld includes Alpha Mission II, Blazing Star, Fatal Fury Special, King of the Monsters 2: The Next Thing, Last Resort, Metal Slug X, Mutation Nation, Over Top, Samurai Shodown II, Sengoku 3, Shock Troopers: 2nd Squad, Soccer Brawl, The Last Blade, and Top Hunter: Roddy & Cathy. It also accepts Evercade cartridges, so Arcade 1 can be played on the handheld.

Which option makes sense for you?
| Option | What you get | Best fit |
|---|---|---|
| NEOGEO Arcade 1 | Six games on a physical cartridge | Players who already own compatible Evercade or Super Pocket hardware and want to add these games to that library. |
| Super Pocket NEOGEO Edition | A portable handheld with 14 built-in games, plus support for Evercade cartridges | Players seeking a dedicated handheld with games ready to play, or a portable way to use compatible cartridges. |
| Super Pocket NEOGEO bundle | The handheld plus black-cart editions of NEOGEO Arcade 1, 2, and 3 | Players who want the console and three cartridges together; consider whether you want the games on all three carts rather than buying only the handheld. |
The bundle’s listed contents add up to 32 games: 14 built into the handheld and 18 across the three cartridges, according to Shop Just for Games’ product listing. Those totals describe the retailer’s bundle, not the standalone Arcade 1 cartridge.
Was “debut this summer” a current release date?
No. The headline’s summer timing belongs to the 2025 announcement. At that point, Blaze planned a June 2025 launch for the handheld and a July 2025 launch for Arcade 1. Industry coverage also reported the original timeframe; GamesMarket’s April 1, 2025 report covered the announcement. A later delay notice moved Arcade 1 to August 2025, so the original July plan should not be treated as its final release timing.

What do current price and availability sources establish?
The announcement-era prices are historical, not confirmed current prices: Blaze’s original European price for Arcade 1 was €24.99, and it announced a €79.99 price for a limited MVS-style Super Pocket edition of 3,000 numbered units. The announcement also said Arcade 1 preorders would begin May 1, 2025. These figures do not establish present-day pricing or stock.
Shop Just for Games lists a separate Super Pocket NEOGEO bundle containing the handheld and black-cart editions of Arcade 1, 2, and 3, with a stated release date of October 22, 2026 and a displayed price of €139.99. The listing showed the bundle out of stock when accessed on October 8, 2026. That is one retailer’s status and price, not a guarantee of availability elsewhere. The available sources do not establish current regional stock for either standalone product or current US pricing.

What Blaze said about the announcement
Andrew Byatt, CEO of Blaze Entertainment, said: “We’re incredibly pleased to bring Evercade and retro gaming fans such a wide range of NeoGeo games across our cartridges and a unique offering with the Super Pockets,” according to the announcement. It was the company’s promotional description of the launch, not an independent evaluation of the products.
