Browse Steam’s live Free To Play catalog to find games without an upfront purchase. Sort the results or narrow them by player mode and features, then check each game’s store page for its current price, requirements, and compatibility before choosing it.
How to find free-to-play games on Steam
- Open Steam’s Free To Play search page.
- Choose a sort order to browse the catalog. Available options include relevance, release date, name, lowest price, highest price, and user reviews.
- Use the player and feature filters to narrow the list to what you want to play.
- Open a candidate’s individual store page and check its current price, system requirements, player modes, and compatibility before deciding.
How to narrow the catalog
Choose a player mode
Steam’s filters include single-player, multiplayer, PvP, online co-op, and cross-platform multiplayer. These facets help locate games that match the way you want to play; confirm the specific modes on the game’s own store page.
Check features such as controller support
The catalog includes feature facets such as controller support. A filter is a way to narrow results, not a guarantee that every title supports every controller or setup. Verify compatibility on the individual game page.
What counts as “new”?
The Free To Play page is a broad live catalog, not a validated list of recent releases. Sorting by release date can help you browse by date, but games near the top of other sorts are not necessarily new. In Steam’s October 8, 2026 listing snapshot, examples visible included Counter-Strike 2, Dota 2, Warframe, Marvel Rivals, and Apex Legends; their appearance there does not establish that they are newly released or that they remain available on identical terms. Check the live catalog and each title page for current information.

Check a game before you choose it
Use the game’s own store page to verify current pricing, system requirements, available player modes, and hardware compatibility. The catalog alone does not establish a title’s specific requirements, controller support, optional purchases, account requirements, or platform limitations. Steam’s search results can also exclude titles based on a visitor’s preferences, so the displayed selection may differ between users.
