Who is on the NHL 26 cover?
The cover depends on the edition. Matthew Tkachuk, the Florida Panthers forward, is the Standard Edition athlete. The Deluxe Edition cover brings together Matthew, his brother Brady Tkachuk and their father Keith Tkachuk. EA revealed the game and Deluxe cover on August 6, 2025, then identified Matthew as the Standard Edition cover athlete in its launch announcement.

Matthew described the family cover as an extension of how each of them plays, saying they are “all unique and play the way we want to.” EA’s reveal announcement has the full cover announcement and his comments; EA’s launch announcement confirms the Standard Edition distinction.
When did NHL 26 come out, and what platforms support it?
EA announced a September 12, 2025 release for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. That date has passed: EA’s NHL 26 home page labels the game “OUT NOW.” The announced console platforms are PS5 and Xbox Series X|S; the supplied official product information does not list a PC version.

What’s new in NHL 26?
EA’s feature pitch centers on changes to how players and goalies behave, plus updates to career and Hockey Ultimate Team modes. These are EA’s descriptions of the game’s design, not independent measurements of realism or performance.
ICE-Q 2.0 uses NHL EDGE tracking data
EA says NHL EDGE puck and player tracking data informs ICE-Q 2.0, shaping attributes and tendencies such as skating speed, shot power, signature playstyles and goalie reactions. In its August 11, 2025 partnership announcement, EA said the tracking data comes from infrared technology and arena cameras across all 32 NHL rinks and comprises millions of data points. Those figures describe EA’s published account of the system; they do not by themselves establish how accurately the game reproduces real-world play.

EA SPORTS president Cam Weber said the aim was to translate the energy of the ice to the screen. NHL executive Brian Jennings described the partnership as a way to bring the game’s “soul” to a new generation. EA’s NHL EDGE partnership announcement explains the data integration and includes both executives’ statements.
Goalie Crease Control
EA says Goalie Crease Control is designed to make goalies more responsive through smarter positioning and quicker, more natural saves. That is the publisher’s description of the feature rather than a separately verified gameplay result.
