Hints for Connections #213
Try these in order, from the least revealing nudge to the most direct clue. The hints follow the puzzle’s four category colors.
- Yellow: Abracadabra.
- Green: Feel the heat.
- Blue: What happens in Vegas.
- Purple: You feta believe it.
Solving tip
Scan all 16 words before submitting a group. Several can suggest tempting alternate connections: “Grate” and “Poker,” for example, may pull your attention in different directions. Check whether a possible group holds together as a set of four, and keep other meanings or larger phrases in mind before using a guess.

About this puzzle
This is the Wednesday, January 10, 2024 edition, puzzle #213—not a different year’s January 10 puzzle. Connections asks players to sort 16 words into four groups of four. Tom’s Guide says players have four mistakes before the answers are revealed and that the puzzle refreshes at local midnight; it describes the game as free to play in the NYT Games app or browser. Tom’s Guide reported a 2.8 out of 5 difficulty rating from Connections Companion and described this puzzle as trickier than the previous day’s. That is a secondary report, not an official NYT rating.
