Connections answers for February 19, 2026
- Yellow — Easter supplies: BASKET, DYE, EGGS, PEEPS
- Green — Fireplace accessories: BELLOWS, POKER, SHOVEL, TONGS
- Blue — Elements of Saturday Night Fever: DISCO, JOHN TRAVOLTA, PLATFORM SHOES, POLYESTER SUIT
- Purple — Homophones of ways to cook something: BOYLE, BRAYS, SEER, STU
Why the purple group is tricky
The purple words are sound-alikes rather than the cooking methods themselves: BOYLE sounds like “boil,” BRAYS like “braise,” SEER like “sear,” and STU like “stew.”
What the blue group refers to
The blue words evoke the 1977 film Saturday Night Fever: disco, its star John Travolta, and the platform shoes and polyester suit associated with the film’s disco-era style.
How Connections works
Connections asks players to sort 16 words into four groups of four based on shared themes. The New York Times describes yellow as the easiest category and purple as the trickiest. Its Help Center notes that each puzzle has one solution, even though words can suggest overlapping associations. The daily puzzle releases at midnight in the player’s timezone. It can be played through the Games app, the NYT website, the Athletic, and the News app; the full puzzle archive is available to All Access and Games subscribers.
