Connections #909 answers
Spoilers: The four groups and their words are below.
#1 Best Overall
Yellow: NORM
AVERAGE, MEAN, PAR, STANDARD
Each word can refer to a typical level or accepted norm. “Average” and “mean” can describe a central value, while “par” and “standard” can refer to what is usual or expected.
Green: MOLLIFY
COOL, MODERATE, SETTLE, TEMPER
Each can mean to calm something or reduce its intensity: cool tempers, moderate a response, settle a dispute, or temper enthusiasm.
Blue: MEMBER OF A TITULAR GROUP IN AN ANIMATION FRANCHISE
CAR, INCREDIBLE, MINION, MONSTER
These point to individual members of the groups named in Cars, The Incredibles, Minions, and Monsters, Inc. The connection is to the franchise titles, not to a general category of vehicles, superheroes, henchmen, or creatures.

ADDERALL, MONITORSHIP, NEWTON, TOADY
The starts of these longer words contain adder, monitor, newt, and toad—names associated with reptiles or amphibians. Herpetofauna refers to reptiles and amphibians.
