To reunite with Mutt in Kingdom Come: Deliverance II, begin the “Mutt” side quest when “Wedding Crashers” starts, then investigate the body and dead deer northwest of Bozhena’s hut in Trosky. You can follow the full trail through local residents and gamekeeper Vostatek, or try a reported shortcut to the wolf den after examining those first clues. The shortcut may no longer work, so use the journal route if it does not advance your objective.
Start the Mutt quest and inspect the first clues
The Mutt side quest enters Henry’s journal when the main quest “Wedding Crashers” begins. Travel to the marked location northwest of Bozhena’s hut in Trosky. A vagabond is searching a body and will attack when approached. Defeat him, then inspect both the body and the nearby dead deer; the walkthrough reports that examining both clues advances the objective.

Ask Bozhena and question the local leads
Return to herbwoman Bozhena and ask about Mutt. She cannot tell Henry where the dog is, but points him toward other leads. At the Zhelejov Wagoners’ Inn, speak with innkeeper Lawrence, who directs Henry toward shepherd Siegfried. A fisherman at Vidlak Pond offers a similar lead.
Use bait at Siegfried’s sheep pasture
Siegfried, near Kopanina north of Tachov, says wolves have been attacking his sheep and explains how to draw them out. At the marked slope, place meat near the birches, hide in the specified bush, and wait. PowerPyx says the bait can be fresh, cooked, or dried animal meat; if Henry has none, its walkthrough describes finding dried meat at a nearby enemy camp.

Siegfried also offers a sheep as bait. Do not choose that option if you are pursuing the Lent achievement. After the wolves appear, report back to Siegfried. PowerPyx says you can lie that the wolves were dealt with to gain reputation and 20 Groschen; telling him they were not killed loses reputation and ends his help. If preserving Lent matters, do not kill the wolves with a weapon; the walkthrough recommends fleeing or using unarmed kicks.
Get Vostatek’s clue
Siegfried points Henry toward gamekeeper Vostatek, southeast of Vidlak Pond. First complete the “Lackey” side quest and bring Vostatek home. Speak with him again afterward to receive the lead to Mutt’s location: northwest of the Miller and southeast of the Rocktower Pond fast-travel point.

Try the direct route to the wolf den
If you have inspected the body and deer but want to skip the remaining leads, an updated guide reports that you can head to the wolf den west of the Nomads’ Camp. Follow the path through the camp and climb among the rocks. A February 2025 guide also describes going straight to Mutt’s location. However, an October 2026 reader comment on an older PowerPyx walkthrough says this shortcut may have been patched. If reaching the den does not trigger progress, return to the investigation and follow the journal markers.

- At the den, follow the deer carcasses and path toward the cave.
- Save before descending if you can; a recent guide advises doing so because the scene puts Henry close to the wolf pack.
- Watch the cutscene. Wolves attack after the reunion.
- Fight or flee. PowerPyx says either approach completes the quest. If you are pursuing Lent, do not kill the wolves with a weapon; fleeing or using unarmed kicks avoids that.
When the encounter ends or Henry escapes, the quest completes and Mutt joins as a companion.
Rewards and looking after Mutt
PowerPyx lists Mutt, Houndsman experience, Survival experience, and the “Man’s Best Friend” trophy or achievement among the rewards. It also reports that “Sheep among Wolves” becomes available from Innkeeper Betty in Troskowitz after three in-game days.
For commands, follow the on-screen dog prompt: controls vary by platform and custom bindings. A guide updated September 6, 2026 advises feeding Mutt fresh meat and praising him after a successful action to improve obedience. Hitting him or letting enemies injure him can reduce it. If you send him home, speak with the relevant innkeeper to retrieve him; his reported home location depends on story progress and region.
