The 16 words in the grid

If you’re replaying the puzzle or want to try solving before seeing the clues, here are the words:

LEAF, LOAF, ROLL, BONE, SCROLL, BAR, DINOSAUR, LOUNGE, CLUB, BOLT, COIN, REEL, CHILL, NUGGET, RUBBLE, REST.

Hints, from subtle to revealing

Connections asks you to sort 16 words into four groups of four. Some words can seem to fit more than one category, so check that all four form a coherent set before submitting. An incorrect group costs a life; four mistakes end the game.
