How to see the connections
Start with the more direct meanings
COACH, GUIDE, SCHOOL, and TRAIN all fit the idea of teaching. BRAKE, PARK, SIGNAL, and TURN read naturally as driving instructions, so those two sets can be approached through meaning and context.

#1 Best Overall
Use the whole set to test ambiguous words
BANK and POOL have several possible associations on their own. With RESERVE and STORE, the intended link becomes a stockpile or stored supply, rather than another meaning of either word.
Check phrase completions last
BOOK, EARTH, GLOW, and INCH may not share an obvious meaning as a standalone set. Testing a common word after each reveals the phrase pattern: “worm.”

How Connections groups work
Connections asks players to sort 16 terms into four groups of four. A group may be based on a shared meaning or on wordplay, and the colors indicate difficulty in order: yellow is easiest, followed by green, blue, and purple (gameplay overview).
