Hints for Connections #630
Connections asks players to sort 16 entries into four groups of four based on a shared link. The game allows up to four mistakes. These clues move from broad prompts to the trickiest connection; the group labels and full answers follow below. TechRadar’s March 1, 2025 guide identifies this as game #630.
- Yellow: Think about cellphone settings or modes.
- Green: Think of ways to get away from someone.
- Blue: Think about the 23rd letter of the alphabet and what it might represent.
- Purple: Add a rope-related word that rhymes with “thing.”

How the connections work
Yellow: cellphone modes
AIRPLANE, DO NOT DISTURB, RING, and VIBRATE are settings or modes associated with a cellphone.
Green: evade
DODGE, ESCAPE, LOSE, and SHAKE can all describe getting away from someone or avoiding pursuit.
Rank #2
Blue: what “W” might stand for
WATT, WEST, and WIN begin with W; TUNGSTEN belongs because its chemical symbol is W. The symbol reflects tungsten’s other name, wolfram, which is used in many countries, as TechRadar notes in its guide to this puzzle.
Purple: words before “string”
Each entry forms a familiar compound when followed by STRING: DRAWSTRING, HAMSTRING, HEARTSTRING, and SHOESTRING. The clue is to supply the shared second word, rather than to look for a direct link among DRAW, HAM, HEART, and SHOE.
