- Spoken presentation: ADDRESS, LECTURE, SPEECH, TALK.
- Adjectives for a desert: DRY, HOT, SANDY, VAST.
- Dog breeds, informally: BULLY, CHOW, GOLDEN, LAB.
- Represented by three-digit numbers: CANNABIS, DEVIL, INTRO CLASS, JAMES BOND.
How the trickiest group works
The “numeral alternatives” clue points to associations with three-digit numbers: CANNABIS (420), DEVIL (666), INTRO CLASS (101), and JAMES BOND (007). The last example is written with a leading zero, but its familiar code is commonly referred to as a three-digit number.
The remaining sets use familiar category shifts: ADDRESS, LECTURE, SPEECH, and TALK are forms of spoken presentation; DRY, HOT, SANDY, and VAST can describe a desert; and BULLY, CHOW, GOLDEN, and LAB are informal dog-breed names.
