What Wealth, Power, and Fame do
In its official system introduction, Square Enix explains that available actions vary according to your influence and the values of the people you meet: Wealth, Power, or Fame. Each influence corresponds to a different pair of Path Actions.

Does your choice lock you out of a story arc?
No, according to walkthrough and choice-guide coverage: players can pursue all three questlines regardless of their opening selection, and the choice does not alter the main story’s start. Which option should you pick?
Use the interaction style you want most as your tiebreaker. If none stands out, choose whichever theme appeals to you; the available guide coverage gives no reason to treat one as a universally superior or mandatory choice.
- Choose Wealth if you want to Purchase from or Hire NPCs.
- Choose Power if you prefer Contend and Impress interactions, which are combat-based.
- Choose Fame if you want Entreat and Recruit interactions, whose success rates depend on influence.
- Choose any of them if you are undecided about NPC actions; the other questlines remain available, according to the guides.
What is not established about the opening choice
Square Enix’s system introduction maps influences to actions, but it does not give an exact numerical starting bonus or detailed success-rate formulas. The available sources therefore do not support a claim that one selection provides a particular stat increase or is objectively best.
