The missing DLSS and upscaling options were linked to a Microsoft PC hotfix released on April 25, 2025. Bethesda said a follow-up Microsoft PC hotfix pushed on April 28 should address the upscaling and anti-aliasing issues, and advised players to reselect their settings in-game after updating. This was a documented, storefront-specific incident—not evidence that every PC version or GPU is currently affected.
What happened to DLSS and Frame Generation?
Players reported missing upscaling and anti-aliasing options after the April 25, 2025 Microsoft PC hotfix. Contemporary reporting associated the complaints with the Microsoft Store and Xbox app for PC versions; it did not establish that the same update caused the problem on Steam. Bethesda’s support note described a follow-up Microsoft PC hotfix on April 28 as one that “should address” the issues some players experienced. Bethesda’s support article also says settings may need to be reselected in-game after updating.
The dates matter: this is a historical April 2025 report and remedy. It does not establish a current problem across PC storefronts or configurations.
How to restore or reselect the graphics settings
- Check which PC version you use. The reported incident concerned the Microsoft Store/Xbox app for PC rollout. The cited reporting does not demonstrate an equivalent Steam-wide failure.
- Update the game if the Microsoft PC hotfix is available for your installation. Bethesda said the April 28, 2025 hotfix should address the upscaling and anti-aliasing issues tied to the April 25 hotfix.
- Reopen the in-game graphics menu and reselect your settings. Bethesda specifically notes that this may be necessary after updating.
- Check the separate graphics options. Bethesda’s PC settings guide lists Upscaling Technique choices as Off, DLSS, FSR, and XeSS, and lists DLSS Frame Generation separately. DLSS mode requires an NVIDIA graphics card. Bethesda’s graphics-settings guide
The official guidance cited here is to update the game and reselect settings. It does not provide a verified config-file edit, console command, driver utility, or hardware purchase as a fix.

Upscaling and Frame Generation are different settings
Upscaling changes how the game renders and scales its image; Bethesda groups DLSS, FSR, and XeSS under the Upscaling Technique setting. DLSS Frame Generation is a separate option in the guide, as is DLSS sharpness. A missing upscaling choice therefore should not be treated as proof that every DLSS-related feature failed in precisely the same way. Bethesda’s issue note refers to upscaling and anti-aliasing, while its guide separately names Frame Generation; the available statements do not confirm that Frame Generation was individually tested on every GPU or storefront.

Bethesda’s game page lists later announcements, including the July 2025 Update 1.2 and Switch 2 news, but those entries do not identify the build installed on each PC storefront or verify current behavior on every configuration. Bethesda’s Oblivion Remastered page The publisher’s Steam announcements also document a separate Update 1.1 announcement dated June 4, 2025, which said all-platform availability was planned for June 11 and listed related settings and mirroring fixes. The cited sources do not quantify how many players experienced the missing-options issue. If the options are still absent, first identify the storefront and installed build; the historical remedy supports updating and reselecting settings, but does not establish a universal present-day diagnosis.
