Windows Errors? Fix Them Before They Spread
Repair common Windows errors and clear accumulated junk for a smoother, more stable PC - no reinstall needed.Free scan · no reinstallCrashes, No Sound, or Screen Glitches?
Random freezes, missing sound and display glitches usually trace back to one bad driver. Find and replace yours safely.Free scan · under a minuteIf Off The Grid keeps crashing on PC, first compare your computer with the current requirements on the storefront where you installed it. Epic Games Store and Steam list different graphics cards for both minimum and recommended play, so one page may not match the other. The checks below move from quick, low-risk steps to deeper diagnostics; none is a confirmed fix for every crash. Before changing anything, note when the crash happens and copy any exact error message.
Check the requirements for your storefront first
The published PC requirements differ between the Epic Games Store and Steam, particularly for the graphics card. Check the live listing for your installed storefront and build before considering a hardware change. Epic also cautions that Early Access games may change and can have unforeseen issues. A mismatch is a reason to investigate compatibility, not proof that it caused your crash.
| Storefront | Minimum requirements | Recommended requirements |
|---|---|---|
| Epic Games Store | Windows 10 or later; Intel i5-9400 or similar; 16 GB memory; GeForce RTX 3060 or similar; DirectX 12. | Intel i7-12700 or similar; 32 GB memory; GeForce RTX 4070 or similar. The listing’s recommended tier does not state a separate OS, DirectX, or storage value. |
| Steam | Windows 10 or later; Intel i5-9400 or similar; 16 GB memory; GeForce RTX 2060 or similar; broadband internet; 28 GB free storage. | Intel i7-12700 or similar; 32 GB memory; GeForce RTX 3070 Ti or similar. The listing’s recommended tier does not state a separate OS, internet, or storage value. |
These are the requirements shown on the respective storefront listings; check those pages for current details. Their GPU tiers conflict, so use the listing for your own installation rather than treating one storefront’s figures as universal.
Try these eight checks in order
1. Restart the PC and launch from the installed storefront
Restart Windows and the launcher, then start the game from the library where it is installed. If an anti-cheat or launcher error appears, record its exact wording. Epic’s general Easy Anti-Cheat guidance says to launch through Epic Games Launcher for games using that route; that is not an instruction for Steam players to switch launchers, nor a game-specific restart fix.

2. Verify files in the Epic Games Launcher, if that is where you installed the game
- Open Library in Epic Games Launcher.
- Find Off The Grid and open its three-dot menu.
- Choose Manage, then Verify.
- Wait for the check and any repair to finish, then try launching again.
Epic says verification checks for damaged or differing files and repairs them without affecting saved data. This path is for the Epic launcher; do not assume it is the Steam procedure. For an Epic installation, see Epic’s file-verification instructions.
3. Follow anti-cheat guidance only if you see an Easy Anti-Cheat error
Steam identifies Easy Anti-Cheat as Off The Grid’s anti-cheat. If an EAC message appears, first use any error-specific guidance rather than applying unrelated fixes. Epic’s general EAC troubleshooting for games using its launcher includes checking the supported launcher, network access, Windows updates and Visual C++ Redistributables, interfering programs, and game files. Those are general recommendations for EAC games, not evidence that any one item is a known fix for this title. See Epic’s Easy Anti-Cheat troubleshooting guidance.

4. Install pending Windows updates and relevant Visual C++ Redistributables if indicated
If the error points to an outdated system component or runtime, install Windows updates and the relevant Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable using Microsoft’s official guidance. Avoid unofficial download mirrors. This is one branch of Epic’s general EAC troubleshooting flow, not a step to treat as a universal crash remedy.
5. Close overlays and background apps as a temporary test
Some programs can interfere with Easy Anti-Cheat. Close overlays or other likely background applications, then retry the game. Test one category at a time so you can tell whether anything changes. Do not permanently disable security software or broadly weaken firewall protections just to test a crash.

The mature AM4 platform with DDR4 memory offers excellent value and proven stability.
6. Use a clean boot if a simple app-closing test is inconclusive
A Windows clean boot starts the system with essential drivers and startup programs, helping isolate software conflicts. It is an advanced diagnostic, not a guaranteed repair for Off The Grid. Follow Microsoft’s clean-boot instructions, test the game, and restore normal startup afterward.
7. Compare the crash with the symptom you recorded
Use the timing and error details to decide which checks are relevant rather than changing several settings at once:

- Turn on the Bright Lights: With the built-in RGB lighting, take your gaming experience to the next level by pressing the MSI LED button to cycle through lighting options. Customize lighting even further with MSI Center software.
- If the crash occurs while files are loading or an installation error appears, file verification is a useful diagnostic for an Epic install.
- If an explicit EAC message appears, follow guidance for that error and the general EAC checks above.
- If the game runs only when certain background software is closed, investigate that conflict; a clean boot can help narrow it down.
- If the PC is below the requirements on its installed storefront’s current listing, investigate compatibility before considering an upgrade. The mismatch alone does not identify the cause.
8. Contact the Off The Grid Support Team if it still crashes
For a persistent or game-specific problem, use the Off The Grid Support Team, the official support route listed by Epic. Include your PC specifications, storefront, Windows version, when the crash happens, the exact error text, and which checks you tried. These details can help support understand the issue without assuming its cause.
