How OpTic Texas beat LA Thieves
The Major 4 grand final took place June 28, 2026, at Paris La Défense Arena in Nanterre, France, as part of the June 26–28 event. LA Thieves won the first three maps, putting OpTic Texas one map from defeat. OpTic then took four consecutive maps to complete the 4–3 reverse sweep and claim the championship. The grand final was a rematch: LA Thieves had beaten OpTic 3–0 in the upper-bracket final earlier in the event. OpTic’s title win earned the team $150,000 and 100 CDL points, according to the same event recap.
What record did LA Thieves set?
LA Thieves’ June 26 opening-round win over Carolina Royal Ravens was reported as the team’s 14th consecutive series victory and a new CDL record. Insider Gaming’s report says the team’s previous loss was to FaZe Vegas on May 16. The report and the team’s social post—“History, stolen. 14 straight. A new CDL record.”—attribute the streak to LA Thieves.

That streak should be understood as a contemporaneous team record, not as a run that continued through the Major 4 final. OpTic’s 4–3 win ended LA’s tournament run. The reviewed Major 4 coverage does not establish a separate record achieved by Scrap personally, so the claim that he “secured” a shocking record is not supported by these sources.
Major 3 was a different final
OpTic Texas and LA Thieves also met in the Major 3 grand final, where LA won 4–3. That result is easy to confuse with Major 4 because both finals ended with the same score, but the winners were opposite: LA took Major 3; OpTic took Major 4.
