Start by identifying when NBA 2K26 fails
Note whether the game closes during startup, freezes during a match, or crashes at a particular point. Record any error message and whether the problem began after a game update, Windows update, or graphics-driver change. Also note whether other games crash. These details help narrow down the issue and give support a clearer starting point; by themselves, they do not establish a cause.

Check that your PC meets the requirements
Compare your hardware and Windows version with the specifications on 2K’s NBA 2K26 PC requirements page, published June 27, 2025, and updated April 14, 2026. The listed minimums are:

Meeting the minimum does not guarantee smooth performance. 2K warns that a PC at or below the minimum may fail to launch or have performance problems, and says it cannot guarantee the game will run if the PC does not meet those minimums.

How the recommended tier differs
2K’s recommended specifications are Windows 11 64-bit, an Intel Core i5-10600 or AMD Ryzen 5 3600X processor, 16 GB RAM, and an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2070 8 GB, AMD Radeon RX 5700 8 GB, or Intel Arc A770 graphics card. These are recommended specifications, not proof that a crash is caused by hardware or that upgrading a particular component will fix it.
Try low-risk software checks
2K’s PC: General Troubleshooting article, published and updated October 10, 2025, recommends basic checks for crashes, freezes, and errors. Try these before removing the game:

- Clear the game cache. Follow the cache-clearing instructions for the launcher you use. The steps can differ by launcher, so use its current instructions rather than deleting files at random.
- Update your graphics driver. Get the current driver from the official NVIDIA, AMD, or Intel Arc support site for your graphics card. If the problem began immediately after a driver change, note that timing for support rather than assuming a particular driver is responsible.
- Install available Windows updates. Restart the PC after updates finish, then test the game again.
- Temporarily close nonessential background software. 2K identifies Steam and Discord overlays, VPNs, antivirus software, and security or firewall tools as examples of applications that can interfere. Close or disable one category at a time, test the game, and restore it afterward if it makes no difference. If a security exception is needed, follow the security provider’s instructions and limit the change to the game or launcher; do not leave protection broadly disabled.
Reinstall only if the earlier checks do not help
2K says a complete reinstall may be necessary when clearing the cache does not resolve the issue. Reinstalling can refresh potentially corrupted files and obtain available updates, but it takes time and requires substantial storage. Before starting, make sure the PC has the required 110 GB available and reinstall through the game’s launcher or Windows Settings.
Contact 2K Support with useful details
If NBA 2K26 still crashes, open a support ticket using the route on the NBA 2K26 requirements page. Include when the crash happens, the exact error message, your PC specifications, and which checks you tried. 2K Support says it may request DxDiag and MSinfo files to understand the computer’s hardware and software environment. Providing them helps with investigation but does not guarantee a fix.
