Nintendo’s second Close to You short animation, released October 8, 2025, reveals that Pikmin are behind the objects moving around a baby’s room. It followed the first short, which debuted in Nintendo Today! on October 7 and kept the creatures out of view. Nintendo describes the pair as the first short films created by Nintendo Pictures.
What is Nintendo’s Close to You video?
Close to You is a pair of short animation videos made by Nintendo Pictures Co., Ltd. Nintendo’s news page describes the October 8 video as a follow-up to the short released the previous day. The studio’s own portfolio lists the work as “Pikmin Close to you” and credits Nintendo Pictures with its planning, story development, production and editing: Nintendo Pictures’ works.
The two shorts were first released on consecutive days in Nintendo Today!, Nintendo’s smart-device app:
| Version | Debut | What it reveals |
|---|---|---|
| First short | October 7, 2025 | The objects move, but the Pikmin are not shown. |
| Follow-up | October 8, 2025 | Pikmin appear and are shown causing the movement. |
Nintendo’s announcement identifies the dates and calls the second video a follow-up: Nintendo’s Close to You announcement. The descriptions of what each version shows were reported contemporaneously by Nintendo Life and GameSpot.

Its stated purpose is about the studio: “These are the first short films created by Nintendo Pictures Co., Ltd. Nintendo Pictures will continue to explore new creative possibilities through video content.” Nintendo Life reproduced the statement from Nintendo’s October 9, 2025 post: Nintendo Life’s report on Nintendo’s statement.
Is Close to You a Pikmin 5 teaser?
No announcement in the cited sources identifies these shorts as a teaser for Pikmin 5, another Pikmin game, a feature film or a series.
