Contemporary reports described the restriction as specific to Stadium; they did not establish that Tracer was disabled in other modes. Blizzard’s official notes confirm her Stadium launch, but the sources available do not confirm the disable or establish when she returned.
What happened to Tracer in Stadium?
Blizzard added Tracer to the Stadium roster in its September 16, 2025 patch notes. Two days later, Phrasemaker reported that she had been temporarily disabled from the mode. The report attributed the move to an exploit involving players selling equipped items, using Recall, and retaining the buffs granted by those items. Blizzard’s September 16 patch notes confirm her roster addition, while the disable and its reported cause come from Phrasemaker’s September 18 report, which reproduced a post attributed to Overwatch Cavalry.

No official Blizzard disable notice is established by the available sources, so the exploit should be treated as the reported explanation rather than a Blizzard-confirmed cause.
Why was the reported bug tied to Stadium?
Stadium has an item-and-cash economy, and Tracer’s mode-specific kit includes mechanics connected to Blink and Recall. Blizzard’s patch notes list her Chronal Crux passive, which changes how much Health, Armor, and Shields she gains from items and cash, along with Powers involving Blink and Recall. That context makes the reported interaction plausible as a Stadium-specific issue, but Blizzard did not confirm that explanation in the sources available.

Did the disable affect other Overwatch 2 modes?
The September 18 report describes a restriction in Stadium. The available reporting does not establish that Tracer was disabled in other Overwatch 2 modes, so it would be inaccurate to describe this as a game-wide removal.
When did Tracer return to Stadium?
The available sources do not establish a return date or Tracer’s current Stadium availability as of October 8, 2026. A September 20 Fenix Bazaar article likewise said there was no official return timing available at the time; its speculation about a possible return is not evidence of what eventually happened. Fenix Bazaar’s September 20 report provides that contemporaneous context, not a confirmed later status.

How the incident unfolded
- September 15, 2025: Blizzard published a preview of Tracer’s Stadium arrival by Stadium team member Conor Kou. The preview said she would join the mode on September 16; it does not confirm the later exploit or disable.
- September 16, 2025: Blizzard’s patch notes listed Tracer as added to the Stadium roster.
- September 18, 2025: Phrasemaker reported her temporary Stadium disable and the alleged item-sale and Recall buff-retention bug.
- September 20, 2025: Fenix Bazaar reported that an official return timing was not then available.
Blizzard’s Season 18 midcycle article also promoted Tracer’s Stadium arrival, but it is launch context rather than confirmation of the reported disable. It does not resolve the later roster status.
