For Fallout 4, start with the launcher’s auto-detected resolution and aspect ratio, then lower detail settings or resolution in small steps if performance is poor. Fallout: London does not have a verified official graphics preset: first make sure the base game meets Team FOLON’s published compatibility requirements, then tune settings through the Fallout 4 launcher.
Change Fallout 4 graphics settings in the launcher
Fallout 4’s display and detail options are set before you start the game. Bethesda says its launcher detects a recommended aspect ratio and resolution based on your system configuration. You can adjust those options, as well as detail and advanced graphics settings, from the launcher’s Options menu. See Bethesda’s display-settings instructions.
- Save your game and exit Fallout 4 completely.
- Open the Fallout 4 Launcher and select Options.
- Check the detected aspect ratio and resolution. Adjust them, along with detail or advanced graphics options, as needed.
- Choose a display mode. If you have a display or performance issue, Bethesda suggests trying Windowed or Borderless mode.
- Save the changes, launch the game, and compare how it runs. Changes apply after relaunching.
Resolution and detail settings let you trade image quality against performance, but Bethesda does not quantify the effect of individual options or specify a universal frame rate. Make one change at a time so you can tell whether it helps on your hardware.
What to try if Fallout 4 runs poorly
Bethesda’s troubleshooting guidance recommends starting with the launcher’s detected settings rather than assuming a particular preset is best. If performance remains poor, work through these steps; they are troubleshooting suggestions, not guaranteed performance gains. The full list is in Bethesda’s Fallout 4 PC performance support page.

- Restore the launcher’s auto-detected settings, then reduce detail options or resolution if necessary.
- Close background applications that are not needed while playing.
- Install current graphics-card drivers and check that your PC meets Fallout 4’s system requirements.
- Try Windowed or Borderless mode if fullscreen presentation is causing trouble.
Reset Fallout 4’s configuration files
If changing launcher settings has not helped, Bethesda advises resetting the game’s INI files. In the default DocumentsMy GamesFallout4 folder, remove Fallout4.ini, Fallout4Custom.ini, and Fallout4Prefs.ini. The game can recreate its configuration files; you may need to set your preferences again afterward. Back up any custom configuration you want to keep before removing these files.
Check Fallout: London compatibility before tuning graphics
Fallout: London is a PC-only, DLC-sized Fallout 4 mod. Team FOLON’s FAQ, accessed October 8, 2026, says it requires Fallout 4 version 1.10.163.0, the pre-next-gen release, and all Fallout 4 DLC. The release instructions say Steam users must downgrade to that version. Because these requirements may change, check Team FOLON’s current release and installation instructions before changing your game installation.

Prepare the game and mod
- Have Fallout 4 and all DLC, or the GOTY edition. The FAQ estimates approximately 64 GB of total storage: 30 GB for the base game and approximately 34 GB for the mod.
- Do not use the Fallout 4 – High Resolution Texture Pack with Fallout: London; Team FOLON warns that it replaces the mod’s textures. The pack is not required.
- Team FOLON recommends a clean install, removing conflicting mods, running Fallout 4 once to generate required files, and then installing Fallout: London with the included installer.
- Start a new save for the mod; the FAQ says an existing save is not suitable.
These are compatibility and installation requirements, not graphics-quality recommendations. The version specified by Team FOLON differs from newer Fallout 4 releases; Bethesda’s May 13, 2024 Next Gen Update 2 notes list version 1.10.984 for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. That dated version note should not be treated as a statement of the current PC version.

No current official preset or setting-by-setting performance ranking is established in the guidance cited here. Use the Fallout 4 launcher options after confirming the mod works with the required game version, and adjust resolution or detail incrementally if performance is a problem. The same careful, one-change-at-a-time approach applies to the base game; results depend on the PC, and the official support pages do not provide benchmark figures.
