What changed in Overwatch 2 Season 12?
Blizzard’s official patch archive dates the Season 12 launch notes, titled “Season 12 – New frontiers,” to August 20, 2024. The update added a Support hero and a core game mode, alongside competitive-system changes and seasonal cosmetics. Blizzard’s Season 12 announcement described the season as bringing “a Mid-Year reset, Clash game mode featuring two new maps, divine Mythic Skins, and more.”

Who is Juno, and what does she do?
Juno Teo Minh joined the roster as a Support hero. Blizzard’s launch notes describe her Mediblaster and Pulsar Torpedoes as combining healing and damage, while her Hyper Ring boosts team movement. These are the launch notes’ broad descriptions rather than a full ability guide.
The notes also provide Juno’s origin story: she was born on Mars during Project Red Promise and sent to Earth after the colony lost contact with Lucheng. That background is part of her character lore, separate from her gameplay role.

What is Clash?
Clash arrived as a core mode built around five capture objectives arranged along a linear path on a mirrored map. Blizzard’s season announcement said the mode debuted with two new maps. The launch notes establish that basic structure but do not, by themselves, establish map-specific strategies or competitive outcomes.
What did the August 23 hotfix change?
Blizzard published a separate “Hotfix Balance Update” on August 23, three days after the season launch. It changed the following values:

These are the official values in the August 23, 2024 hotfix notes, not a statement of current balance. The same archive contains the August 20 launch notes, so check the release date when referring to a value.

Mid-year rank reset and systems changes
The season included a mid-year rank reset and changes to core systems, including respawning. Blizzard’s developer commentary said: “Our plan is to reset ranks every 6 months alongside larger updates that shake up the metagame including significant hero balance changes, new heroes like Juno, new game modes like Clash, and changes to core systems like the respawning changes mentioned above.” This describes the plan stated in the August 20, 2024 notes.

Mythic and Battle Pass cosmetics
Season 12 featured the Mythic Anubis Reaper Hero Skin and the upcoming Mythic Midnight Sun Ana Weapon Skin. Blizzard also highlighted a Premium Battle Pass with Legendary Bast Doomfist and Oni Ana skins. These were seasonal content offerings, distinct from the gameplay and balance changes.
