Overwatch 2 Season 12, titled New Frontiers, launched on August 20, 2024, with Mythic Anubis Reaper as its featured Mythic skin. The trailer’s closing image was read as a possible World of Warcraft crossover tease; Blizzard later confirmed a WoW collaboration, but its official announcements do not explicitly say that image was an intentional hint.
What the Season 12 trailer revealed
Blizzard’s Season 12 announcement introduced New Frontiers, highlighting Juno, the Clash game mode, the Throne of Anubis and Hanaoka maps, and Mythic Anubis Reaper. The official trailer description, published August 14, 2024, said the season would launch August 20.

The trailer also drew attention to a possible WoW connection in its closing image. That interpretation proved timely: Blizzard announced an Overwatch 2 and World of Warcraft collaboration the following month. However, the official announcements confirm the later event, not that the image was deliberately intended as a teaser.
What was the sword at the end of the trailer?
The image prompted viewers to wonder whether the sword signaled a World of Warcraft crossover. The available official sources do not identify the object or explain the frame, so it is best treated as a suggestive visual rather than a confirmed reveal. The later collaboration makes the theory plausible in hindsight, but does not establish the developers’ intent.

Which Mythic skin did Reaper get?
The Season 12 Mythic was Mythic Anubis Reaper, not a World of Warcraft character skin. Blizzard’s season announcement names it as the Mythic hero skin, and the trailer description said players could collect 80 Mythic Prisms through the Premium Battle Pass to unlock it. That figure describes the 2024 season messaging; it does not establish the skin’s current price or availability.
What did the World of Warcraft crossover include?
Blizzard announced the collaboration as part of World of Warcraft’s 20th-anniversary celebration. The event was scheduled to run September 17–30, 2024, and featured four Legendary skins pairing WoW characters with Overwatch heroes:

The cited announcements establish when the season and crossover were launched or scheduled, but do not document present-day cosmetic access or prices. They therefore cannot confirm whether Mythic Anubis Reaper or the four Legendary crossover skins are currently obtainable. Blizzard described Overwatch 2 as free to play on console and PC at the time; the Battle Pass, Mythic Prisms, and skins discussed here are digital game content.
