Connections asks you to sort 16 words into four groups of four that share a theme. The clues below move from the least revealing group toward the trickiest.
- Yellow: Four ways to refer to a city’s underground rail system.
- Green: Four ways to prepare food by cutting or breaking it into smaller pieces.
- Blue: Four things that might be used to decorate a snowman.
- Purple: Each word can come before the same word to form a familiar phrase.

Green: Make into smaller pieces while cooking
To CUBE, GRATE, MINCE, or SLICE food is to cut or reduce it into smaller pieces.
Blue: Used to decorate a snowman
A CARROT can make a nose; COAL can make eyes or buttons; a PIPE and SCARF can complete the look.
