Does a DualShock 4 work directly with Xbox 360 or Xbox One?

They do not document pairing the controller directly with Xbox 360 or Xbox One. That is not the same as Sony explicitly declaring the controller incompatible; it means the cited instructions do not establish native Xbox support.
What works for Xbox 360?

What about Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S?
Do not use the Wingman XB 2 as an Xbox One recommendation. Brook states that, starting in February 2024, the XB 2 no longer supports Xbox One or Xbox Series X|S. Its Wingman XB 2 FAQ distinguishes the products: XB 2 is for Xbox 360 and the original Xbox, while Wingman XB 3 is for Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S.

That console distinction does not confirm that a DualShock 4 works with the XB 3. Before purchasing for Xbox One, check Brook’s current XB 3 supported-controller list and verify that it names your DualShock 4 model. The cited FAQ advises buyers to check whether their controller or stick is listed; without that confirmation, a DS4-to-XB 3 pairing should not be treated as established.
