To prevent unapproved Angry Birds 2 purchases, use the purchase-approval controls on the child’s device account: Apple families can enable Ask to Buy, while Android families can check Google Play purchase approvals through the child’s family setup. Then review the child’s store account transaction history to see what was charged. These controls apply to eligible purchases through the relevant store, not necessarily spending made elsewhere.
Are purchases required to play Angry Birds 2?
No. Rovio says in-app purchases are not required to play the game. The game is distributed as a mobile app through the Apple App Store, Google Play, and Amazon Appstore. Optional offers can include paid digital content: Rovio’s 2023 announcement described a Treasure Pass with a free tier and another tier available as an in-app purchase. That announcement is an example of optional spending, not confirmation that the same offer or price is currently available.
For the current age rating and purchase options, check the game’s listing in the store used by your child’s device. The store account is also where to start when checking whether a purchase was made.
How to require approval on an iPhone or iPad
Apple’s Ask to Buy feature can require a parent or guardian’s approval for eligible in-app purchases. The child must be in your Family Sharing group with a child account. Apple’s current setup path is:

Google Play family purchase approvals can cover in-app purchases, but the result depends on the family group, the child’s account, and the payment method and billing configuration. Use Google’s family purchase approval guidance for the current controls and eligible purchase types. Do not assume that a setting applies to every account type, payment method, or purchase route.
What these controls do—and do not—cover
| Platform control | Family and account setup | In-game purchases | Availability and billing caveats |
|---|---|---|---|
| Apple Ask to Buy | Family Sharing and a child account are required. | Approval can be required for eligible in-app purchase requests. | Eligibility varies by region and account status; see Apple’s guidance. |
| Google Play family purchase approvals | Depends on the family group and child’s account configuration. | Can cover in-app purchases. | Coverage depends on applicable account and payment-method configuration; check Google’s guidance. |
These are store-level controls. They should not be treated as a complete monitor for every form of spending outside that store or account. If your child uses more than one device or store account, check each account and its available approval settings.

How to check what your child spent
- Identify the store account signed in on the device where the purchase may have happened.
- Open that account’s purchase or order history and look for Angry Birds 2 charges. If the child uses multiple accounts or devices, check each relevant account.
- Compare any charge with the store listing and the account’s purchase details. If a charge is unfamiliar, use the store’s support or purchase-issue process.
Rovio’s parent information and support center are additional game-publisher resources, but store transaction records are the practical place to verify billing through an app store.
