“Parry skill” means different things in different games. If you mean Elden Ring, equip a shield with the Parry skill in your left hand, then press L2 on PlayStation or LT on Xbox to parry enemy melee attacks. A successful parry can open an opportunity for a critical hit, but it does not break every enemy’s stance in one use.
What does “parry skill” mean?
There is no universal parry control or mechanic: the answer depends on the game. Since “Parry Skill” does not name a specific title, the instructions below are limited to Elden Ring, for which Bandai Namco provides an official starter guide.

How to use Parry in Elden Ring
- Equip a shield that has the Parry skill in your left hand.
- When an enemy makes a melee attack, press L2 on PlayStation or LT on Xbox to attempt the parry.
- If the parry succeeds, look for a critical-hit opportunity.
These controls and mechanics are described in Bandai Namco’s Elden Ring beginner’s guide. The guide describes the parry as a way to repel enemy melee attacks; it does not promise that every attempt will succeed or that every successful parry immediately breaks an enemy’s stance.
What happens after a successful parry?
A successful parry can create an opening for a critical hit. The result is not guaranteed against every enemy: Bandai Namco cautions that some enemies will not have their stance broken by a single parry. Treat the opening as an opportunity, not an automatic critical hit.

Why the game matters
Other games use “parry” for different controls, requirements, timing, eligible attacks, and outcomes. The Elden Ring instructions above should not be applied to another game. If you meant a different title, its name is needed to give the right parry instructions.
