In December 2024, shortly after Path of Exile 2 entered Early Access, Grinding Gear Games (GGG) responded to player feedback with some changes in patch 0.1.0c and a list of improvements it was preparing. The response covered item drops and gem quality, but also dodge rolls, checkpoints, the minimap, and endgame survivability. Those were announcements from 2024—not a description of the game’s current state.
What did the Path of Exile 2 0.1.0c update change?
GameSpot’s December 10, 2024 report described several economy and item-progression changes as part of patch 0.1.0c. The update increased the drop rates of Regal Orbs and Gemcutter’s Prisms, and changed how much quality a Prism added to a Skill Gem. It also redistributed some drops away from Chaos Orbs and Artificer’s Orbs. GameSpot’s report reproduces the patch details.

| More quality per Gemcutter’s Prism | Each Prism added 5% quality to a Skill Gem, replacing the previous 1%. |
| Some drops shifted away from Chaos Orbs and Artificer’s Orbs | The patch redistributed some item drops; the report did not quantify the change. |
These figures describe the historical patch announcement. They should not be used as guidance for the game’s present drop rates or economy.
What changes did developers promise after player feedback?
In the same December 2024 time frame, the report described several improvements as planned for a later patch. GGG’s official “Path of Exile 2: Upcoming Changes and Improvements” post also covered checkpoint travel and other changes intended to address progression and difficulty.
#1 Best Overall
- Dodge rolls: GGG was working on changes intended to make players less likely to get trapped by monsters during a dodge.
- Checkpoint travel: The plan included fast travel between saved checkpoints and adding more checkpoints.
- Rare-monster minimap visibility: The report said the threshold would change so rare monsters appeared when 200 remained, rather than 50.
- Passive respec costs: The official post described a flatter cost curve, with gold costs around 40–50% lower between the start and middle of endgame progression. That was a comparison across that progression range, not a universal discount.
- Trials and endgame: The post also listed adjustments to Trial of the Sekhemas, endgame damage, monsters, skills, and support gems. GGG framed the endgame changes as efforts to make it more survivable.
The wording matters: these were changes being prepared or announced at the time. The cited posts do not establish the present status of every item on that list.
How did GGG describe its priorities in 2025?
In its February 6, 2025 “State of Early Access Update,” GGG described work across quality of life, endgame mapping and rewards, itemization, balance, crashes, and performance. The Community Team identified four broad problems it expected to improve in 0.2.0:
- Major balance problems across builds.
- Too few build options and build-defining unique items.
- Endgame progression balance.
- Too few exciting finds in the endgame.
Those were the developer’s stated priorities, not an independently measured account of what all players thought. GGG also said it did not have an exact 0.2.0 timeline, while describing a general plan for major content updates every few months.

On April 9, 2025, GGG published another list of changes it had completed internally and intended to deploy over the following days. Examples included skill and support-gem adjustments, longer Delirium encounters, attribute runes, and rare monsters appearing on the minimap at all times.
GGG explicitly cautioned that the list was not exhaustive and did not represent every issue players had reported. It is therefore evidence of continuing changes, not proof that every concern—or every earlier promise—had been resolved.
What can be confirmed about the game’s later updates?
Later official posts show that development continued after the initial feedback response. GGG’s Third Edict FAQ describes the 2025 update’s league reset and availability on PC, Xbox Series, and PlayStation 5, and says it was not a paid expansion for existing players. A February 2026 official timeline post said GGG expected to announce plans for 0.5.0 toward the end of April, describing it as a large update with endgame changes and a new league. The official Path of Exile 2 forum listing shows 0.4.0 The Last of the Druids in December 2025 and subsequent 0.4.0 patch notes into March 2026.
These records establish an ongoing update cadence, but they do not confirm the exact live build on October 8, 2026, or the delivery status of every change announced in 2024 and 2025. Check current official patch notes for present-day feature details.
