It introduced a new biome alongside new items, hazards, critters, and badges. The update’s announcement summed it up as: “New Biome, New Items, New Badges, It’s PEAK.”
What was PEAK’s first major update?
The Mesa was announced as “THE MESA – UPDATE OUT NOW!” on August 11, 2025, in an official PEAK Steam Community announcement. Its defining addition was the Mesa biome.
What did The Mesa add?
- A new biome: The Mesa was the update’s central addition.
- New items, hazards, critters, and badges: The update description identifies these categories, but the available details do not establish a complete named-item or feature list.
That makes The Mesa more than a change of scenery: its announced content also included gameplay items and hazards, as well as critters and badges. The available description supports that overview, not an exhaustive inventory.
Is The Mesa still PEAK’s newest major update?
No. The Mesa is an earlier entry in PEAK’s update history, not the newest update. The team later released The Final Ascent on August 11, 2026, and the official announcement feed includes still later maintenance updates. The Mesa remains PEAK’s first major update; its place in the chronology does not change when newer content arrives.
