That announcement confirms a catalog listing at that time—not a Persona 5 Royal-specific free Game Trial or access today. To see whether you can play it now, check the game’s product page in your country’s PlayStation Store.
Was Persona 5 Royal a free trial with PS Plus Premium?
The official announcement described Persona 5 Royal as part of the March 2026 Game Catalog lineup for PS4 and PS5, available to Extra and Premium members from March 17. It did not announce a title-specific Game Trial. Sony’s March 2026 lineup announcement is evidence of that dated catalog inclusion, not proof of a current offer.

These are two different benefits. Sony lists Game Trials as a Premium benefit, providing limited-time access to select games; that does not mean every Game Catalog title also has a trial. Sony says catalog and trial availability can vary over time and by plan. Check PlayStation Plus benefits and availability, then confirm the offer shown for your account in the regional Store.
How to check whether you can play it now
- Sign in to the PlayStation Store on your console or open the web Store for your country.
- Search for Persona 5 Royal and open the product page for the PS4 or PS5 version you want.
- Look for an active Game Catalog entitlement or a Game Trial offer, along with the plan required to access it.
- Read the displayed regional terms, including any availability period and subscription conditions, before subscribing or choosing an offer.
If the page shows only a purchase option, the March 2026 announcement alone does not establish that catalog access is still available to you. Sony’s catalog and trial availability can change, so the current Store listing for your region is the practical check.

What the trial duration and save-transfer guidance means
Sony’s 2022 launch description said most Game Trials allowed two hours of play, with time counted only while the game was running. This is historical, general guidance—not a confirmed duration for Persona 5 Royal or a guarantee about any current offer. Sony’s 2022 description of the revamped PlayStation Plus also says trial trophies and save data carry forward if a player purchases the game. That guidance should not be treated as a Persona 5 Royal-specific promise unless its Store offer confirms a trial.
Do not confuse a game trial with a subscription free trial
A Game Trial lets an eligible member play a selected game for a limited time. A subscription free trial is a separate offer for the PlayStation Plus service itself. Sony’s US terms say a subscription free trial ordinarily converts to an ongoing paid subscription unless the offer states otherwise; cancellation before the trial expires is required to avoid the charge. Check the terms shown for your country and account. Read Sony’s US PlayStation Plus terms.

What Persona 5 Royal includes
Sony describes Persona 5 Royal as an expanded and reworked RPG, with additional characters, confidants, story, and locations, as well as a grappling hook mechanic. Its March 2026 announcement listed PS4 and PS5 versions. The announcement confirms those editions were included in that lineup; it does not establish current catalog access in every region.
