Iron Valiant takes the top spot for combining an instantly recognizable inspiration with an unexpected hybrid design. This is a subjective ranking of all 22 Pokémon in the expanded Scarlet and Violet Paradox roster: the ten past forms, the ten future forms, and Koraidon and Miraidon. The mascots are sometimes treated separately; they are included here because some references group them with Paradox Pokémon and others say they may be considered Paradox Pokémon.

The ranking weighs visual concept, how clearly each design transforms or reinterprets its inspiration, its lore hook, and its battle profile. Base stats inform the last criterion, but they are not a measure of competitive success in every format.

What are all the Paradox Pokémon in Scarlet and Violet?

Scarlet’s standard Paradox group consists of ancient-looking forms, while Violet’s consists of futuristic forms. The roster expands with additions in The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero: The Indigo Disk. This ranking uses the broader 22-entry scope described above, including the two version mascots.

Walking Wake and Iron Leaves have a special availability history. The official event notice documented a raid run from December 19, 2025, through January 4, 2026, and said they could not normally be encountered in Paldea. That event has ended; the notice says they may return in a future event or become available by another method. Check current in-game or official Pokémon news for present availability.

Every Paradox Pokémon ranked

  1. Iron Valiant

Iron Valiant is the strongest blend of familiar and strange in the roster. Its hybridized future design feels like a genuine reinterpretation rather than a simple mechanical copy, and its 590 base-stat total gives it a notable stat profile without making the ranking a competitive tier list.

  2. Roaring Moon

Roaring Moon turns an ancient creature concept into a dramatic, high-impact silhouette. Its design feels both primeval and imposing, and its 590 base-stat total puts it among the roster’s highest totals.

  3. Flutter Mane

Flutter Mane does a lot with a deceptively minimal transformation. Its eerie appearance and mysterious feel make it one of the most memorable past forms; its 135 Special Attack, 135 Special Defense, and 135 Speed give it an especially distinctive base-stat profile.

  4. Walking Wake

Walking Wake is a vivid prehistoric reinterpretation with a strong silhouette and a distinctive place in the expanded roster. Its past event-only availability adds a layer of mystique, although that history should not be confused with current availability.

  5. Iron Bundle

Iron Bundle’s robotic reworking is immediately legible: a familiar shape treated as a future machine. The contrast between its recognizable form and its artificial details gives the concept a satisfying clarity.

  6. Gouging Fire

Gouging Fire makes its ancient design feel grand and dangerous. The official Pokédex describes a rare sighting in a short video of it “rampaging and spouting pillars of flame,” a compact lore hook that suits its dramatic presence.

Pokémon Scarlet/Pokémon Violet Expansion Pass: The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero (Retail Version) Standard - Nintendo Switch [Digital Code]
    • Only one code for a Hisuian Zoroark can be used in either the Pokémon Scarlet or Pokémon Violet game. Upon purchase of The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero DLC, an email with your code will be sent to the email address registered to your Nintendo Account. From the in-game menu, go to the Poké Portal, then select Mystery Gift, select Get with Code/Password, and then enter your code.
    • The Mystery Gift option can be found within the Poké Portal menu option in the X menu after you unlock the feature in the Pokémon Scarlet or Pokémon Violet game. (This occurs after about 1 to 1.5 hours of gameplay, though individual gameplay time may vary.) An internet connection and a Nintendo Account is required to redeem the item in game. A Nintendo Switch Online membership is not required. Each item can only be redeemed once.
  7. Raging Bolt

Raging Bolt is an unusual long-necked Electric/Dragon concept that stands apart from more familiar ancient-monster designs. Its official Pokédex entry says it is “said to incinerate everything around it with lightning launched from its fur,” giving the creature an appropriately uncanny legend.

  8. Iron Moth

Iron Moth has one of the roster’s cleanest futuristic silhouettes. Its 140 base Special Attack is a striking stat detail, but the design earns its place through its sharp, unsettling machine-like identity.

  9. Great Tusk

Great Tusk’s imposing physical design makes the ancient premise feel tangible. It is a strong, readable creature concept, with a physical presence that suits its hulking form.

  10. Iron Hands

Iron Hands makes a memorable robot-fighter concept out of its source inspiration. Its base stats reinforce that physical identity: it has 154 HP and 140 Attack.

  11. Sandy Shocks

Sandy Shocks is one of the roster’s most distinctive oddities, combining a fossilized feel with a magnetic, almost inexplicable silhouette. It rewards a closer look more than an immediately straightforward design does.

  12. Iron Crown

Iron Crown is a sleek future reinterpretation with a focused special-attack profile. Its restrained design is appealing, even if it does not surprise as much as the higher-ranked hybrids.

    Rank #3
  13. Slither Wing

Slither Wing makes a convincing primeval insect, with a physical presence that helps it stand out among the past forms. Its concept is clear and well suited to the ancient-versus-future contrast.

  14. Iron Boulder

Iron Boulder’s future-warrior idea is direct and readable. That clarity works in its favor, though the concept feels less unexpected than the roster’s most inventive designs.

  15. Scream Tail

Scream Tail takes a familiar source and pushes it in a playful but unsettling direction. The sharp departure from what players might expect is its main strength.

  16. Iron Leaves

Iron Leaves is an elegant robotic reinterpretation with a restrained silhouette. Its event history is a point of interest, but the past raid window does not establish present-day access.

  17. Brute Bonnet

Brute Bonnet is an effective prehistoric mushroom design with a strong, recognizable theme. It ranks lower because the transformation feels less surprising than those of the roster’s most inventive entries.

  18. Iron Thorns

Iron Thorns has an appealing mechanical-monster concept and a familiar kaiju-like influence. It is easy to read, even if its central idea is less novel in the context of the full roster.

    Pokémon Scarlet - US Version
    • Embark on a new Pokémon adventure
    • Catch, battle, and train Pokémon in the Paldea Region, a vast land filled with lakes, towering peaks, wastelands, small towns, and sprawling cities.
    • Choose either Sprigatito, Fuecoco, or Quaxly, to be your first partner Pokémon before setting off on your journey through Paldea.
    • Embark on an independent study called the Treasure Hunt to gain new experiences, meet new people, and find your very own treasure.
  19. Iron Jugulis

Iron Jugulis presents a coherent robotic dragon design. It fits Violet’s future-form identity, but its concept feels less unexpected than the entries above it.

  20. Iron Treads

Iron Treads is a solid mechanical take on its inspiration. Its relative straightforwardness makes it a less surprising entry when judged beside the roster’s more radical transformations.

  21. Koraidon

Koraidon is a characterful mascot with a strong ancient design. It ranks here because this list includes the mascots in its broader scope, not because the past-versus-future groupings make its status identical to every other entry.

  22. Miraidon

Miraidon is an effective futuristic mascot with a clear mechanical identity. It rounds out this 22-entry ranking under the same inclusive scope used for Koraidon.

How to read the base-stat comparisons

The listed base stats give the roster distinct profiles, but a larger total is not a universal measure of how good a Pokémon is. Iron Valiant and Roaring Moon each have a 590 base-stat total; most entries in the reference table total 570. Flutter Mane stands out for its three 135 stats in Special Attack, Special Defense, and Speed, while Iron Hands has 154 HP and 140 Attack. These are game-reference base stats, not a live usage ranking or a claim about performance in a particular competitive format.
