Pokémon GO Hub’s July 2026 guide recommends White Kyurem, Black Kyurem and Mega Rayquaza among its leading counters, and estimates that three to four trainers should take it on. That is a guide recommendation, not a guaranteed win: your Pokémon, moves and battle conditions matter. The documented July 15–21, 2026 raid window has ended, and the sources available do not confirm a later return.
What is Mega Sceptile weak to?
Mega Sceptile’s Grass/Dragon typing makes Ice its key weakness. Prioritize attackers with strong Ice moves; Ice is the main counter strategy identified in Pokémon GO Hub’s July 14, 2026 raid guide.

Mega Sceptile raid counters
Pokémon GO Hub’s guide ranks the following among its leading counters, with the listed moves:
| Counter | Moves listed by Pokémon GO Hub |
|---|---|
| White Kyurem | Ice Fang / Ice Burn |
| Black Kyurem | Dragon Tail / Freeze Shock |
| Mega Rayquaza | Dragon Tail / Dragon Ascent |
This is a dated guide ranking, not a universal order for every roster or battle. Choose the strongest suitable attackers you actually have, considering their levels, available moves and survivability. Where possible, use Ice for both fast and charged attacks. If your Ice options are limited, other super-effective attacks can still contribute, but the cited guide’s primary recommendation is to build around Ice.

How many trainers do you need?
Pokémon GO Hub recommends three to four trainers. Treat that as a party-size estimate rather than a guarantee: Pokémon levels, moves, weather, friendship or party bonuses, and execution can all affect a raid. The cited guide does not establish that a smaller group will succeed in every configuration.
When is Mega Sceptile in raids?
Leek Duck listed Mega Sceptile in Mega Raids from July 15, 2026, at 6:00 a.m. through July 21, 2026, at 10:00 p.m. local time. That window has passed. The official Mega Finale schedule documents 2026 event rotations through September 6, but does not establish a later Mega Sceptile appearance. No return date is confirmed by these sources; check the current official Pokémon GO event schedule for a newly announced rotation.

Rewards, shiny Sceptile and Mega Energy
Leek Duck’s July 2026 listing notes that a shiny Sceptile may be encountered, but gives no odds. The possibility is not a guarantee, and a future raid’s details may differ.
The original December 2022 debut event had its own rewards and conditions. Pokémon GO’s announcement said that Sceptile caught during that event would know the Charged Attack Frenzy Plant, that a shiny encounter was possible, and that trainers could receive up to five additional free Raid Passes by spinning Gym Photo Discs during the event. These were specific to that event; they should not be assumed for a later appearance.

Raiding is one opportunity to obtain Mega Energy, while Mega Evolution and Mega Levels are part of the game’s broader progression system. The Pokémon Company’s Mega Evolution guide explains those general mechanics, but does not provide a current Sceptile-specific energy cost to quote here.
