Pokémon GO’s Goomy Community Day took place on Sunday, June 9, 2024, from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. local time. Its main goal was evolving Sliggoo into a Goodra that knows Thunder Punch; that evolution window lasted until 10:00 p.m. local time. This is a retrospective guide: Niantic’s October 2026 Community Day announcement features Zorua, and the official sources checked do not announce a Goomy rerun.
When was Goomy Community Day?
Niantic held the event on Sunday, June 9, 2024, from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. local time. Goomy appeared more often in the wild, and each encounter had a chance to be Shiny. Niantic’s event announcement is the source for the schedule and event details.

How did you get Thunder Punch Goodra?
- Catch or otherwise have a Goomy and evolve it into Sliggoo.
- Evolve Sliggoo into Goodra during Community Day or by 10:00 p.m. local time on June 9, 2024. This was the five-hour extended evolution window.
- Meet the evolution condition: Sliggoo could evolve into Goodra in rainy weather or near a Rainy Lure Module.
Goodra evolved within that window learned the Charged Attack Thunder Punch. Niantic listed its power as 55 in Trainer Battles and 45 in Gyms and raids. Those figures describe the move’s event-announcement values, not a current balance guarantee.
What bonuses were active?
During the 2:00–5:00 p.m. local event, the bonuses included:

Niantic also listed a snapshot surprise. From 2:00 to 10:00 p.m. local time, Trainers could make one additional Special Trade, for a maximum of three that day, and trades cost 50% less Stardust.
What happened after the main event?
From 5:00 to 10:00 p.m. local time, Sliggoo appeared in four-star raids. These raids could not be joined with Remote Raid Passes. Winning a raid caused additional Goomy to appear near the Gym hosting it for 30 minutes; Niantic said those Goomy had the same Shiny chance as during the main event.

Timed Research available through 10:00 p.m. awarded a Rainy Lure. This could help meet the weather-or-lure condition for evolving Sliggoo, provided the evolution was completed before the event’s 10:00 p.m. deadline.
Was the Special Research ticket required?
No. The Goomy-exclusive Special Research story was an optional ticketed offer, priced at US$1.00 or the equivalent local pricing tier at the time. The ticket and research were tied to the June 2024 event; they are not presented as currently available.

Is Goomy Community Day coming back?
Niantic’s Help Center explains that Community Day featured Pokémon and bonuses vary by event and points players to official announcements for current details. As of October 8, 2026, Niantic’s October 2026 Community Day announcement features Zorua, while the official news listing checked identifies September’s Community Day Classic as Gible. The reviewed official sources do not announce a Goomy rerun. That does not establish that one can never happen; check Niantic’s current announcements for any future schedule.
