A March 31, 2025 report described an unofficial leak claiming that Meganium would gain a Grass/Fairy Mega Evolution and Feraligatr a Water/Dragon one in Pokémon Legends: Z-A. The report warned that the information could change. Later coverage documented more starter Mega Evolutions, including these two, so the March rumor should be read as an early, attributed claim—not as a new reveal.
What did the March 2025 leak report claim?
ComicBook.com reported on March 31, 2025 that Centro Leaks had circulated claims about new Mega Evolutions in Pokémon Legends: Z-A. The report attributed these proposed type changes to the leak:
| # | Preview | Product | Price | |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 |
|
Pokémon Legends: Z-A Standard - Nintendo Switch [Digital Code] | $59.99 | Buy on Amazon |
| 2 |
|
Pokémon Legends: Z-A – Mega Dimension DLC - Nintendo Switch [Digital Code] | $29.99 | Buy on Amazon |
| 3 |
|
Pokémon Legends: Z-A - Nintendo Switch 2 Edition | $65.00 | Buy on Amazon |
- Meganium: Grass/Fairy
- Feraligatr: Water/Dragon
The story also named Clefable and Barbaracle. It described the information as unofficial and subject to change; it was not confirmation from The Pokémon Company. ComicBook.com’s March 31 report is the basis for what the leak purportedly said.
What happened with starter Mega Evolutions later?
Later coverage discussed several starter Mega Evolutions in distinct contexts. The September reporting concerned the Kalos starters; a December game guide listed additional starter forms, including Meganium and Feraligatr.

| Meganium, Emboar, Feraligatr | A game guide listed Mega Meganium, Mega Emboar and Mega Feraligatr, along with their Mega Stones and acquisition methods. | Nintendo Life, December 10, 2025 |
The December guide also counted 72 Mega Evolutions in the base game, including 29 newly added Mega Evolutions. Those are Nintendo Life’s guide counts, not official statistics.

In retrospect, later game-guide coverage includes Mega Meganium and Mega Feraligatr, the two starter forms named in the March report. The early report’s type claims match its stated forms, but the reporting available here does not independently establish the leak’s authenticity or prove how its source obtained the information. The sound distinction is that ComicBook.com reported an unofficial rumor in March, while Nintendo Life later listed the Mega forms in a game guide.
