When is Elgyem Spotlight Hour?
The event is scheduled for Thursday, October 8, 2026, from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. local time. It is a local-time event, so the one-hour window occurs at the stated time in each player’s location rather than at one simultaneous worldwide UTC time. Pokémon GO Hub’s October 2026 event guide and Nintendo Wire’s October 7 guide report the date and time. Check the in-game event listing if you suspect a late schedule change.
What is the Spotlight Hour bonus?
The bonus is 2× Candy for catching Pokémon. Event guides describe it as applying to catches generally, not just Elgyem. It does not mean 2× Candy from transferring Pokémon or evolving them; those are different actions and are not the bonus for this event. See the October event schedule and Nintendo Wire guide.
Can Elgyem be shiny?
Yes. Shiny Elgyem is available in Pokémon GO, so check encounters if you are hunting for one. The event guides confirm its availability but do not establish that Spotlight Hour boosts its shiny odds; do not assume that Elgyem is unusually likely to be shiny during this hour. Pokémon GO Hub’s schedule guide notes that event listings do not specify boosted odds.

How to make the hour useful
Build Elgyem Candy for Beheeyem
Pokémon GO Hub lists the evolution cost from Elgyem to Beheeyem as 50 Elgyem Candy. Catching Elgyem during the bonus can help you work toward that amount, but the number of catches—and candy—you get will depend on your play and encounters; one hour does not guarantee enough candy to evolve.
Use the catch bonus on other encounters too
Because the bonus applies to catches generally, catch other Pokémon you encounter during the hour if Candy is your priority. Pokémon GO Hub also suggests optional possibilities such as saved research encounters, a Mystery Box, or a Coin Bag. These are not requirements, and whether they are useful depends on what you have available.
