The Mega Dimension Mega Evolutions, ranked
1. Mega Raichu X
Raichu gets the strongest hook among the announced forms: it has two separate Mega Evolutions, and the official Mega Dimension page says each uses a different Mega Stone. The X/Y pairing makes Raichu the most intriguing entry to compare as players learn what distinguishes the two branches. The announcement does not establish what those differences are, so the appeal here is the unusual split itself.
2. Mega Lucario Z
Lucario already has a prominent place in the Mega Evolution concept, making a new form marked with a Z especially suggestive. That naming signals a distinct addition to the roster, though the official material cited here does not explain its design, abilities, or story role. Its high placement reflects the potential of revisiting a familiar Mega Evolution with a new label, not a claim that it is stronger than other forms.

3. Mega Raichu Y
The counterpart to Mega Raichu X benefits from the same unusual two-form setup. A separate Mega Stone gives the pair a concrete distinction in how they Mega Evolve, even though the available official description does not explain the forms’ mechanical or visual differences. It ranks just below X only to make the list decisive; the published information does not establish a meaningful quality gap between them.
4. Mega Zeraora
Zeraora’s inclusion adds a new named Mega form to a roster otherwise featuring several familiar Pokémon. That makes it a strong novelty pick on the announced list. The official page names Mega Zeraora but does not describe its appearance, moves, or place in the story, so its ranking rests on the interest of the reveal rather than any verified battle advantage.
5. Mega Baxcalibur
The Pokémon Company International singled out Mega Baxcalibur among examples of the expansion’s powerful new Mega-Evolved Pokémon in its December 10, 2025 launch announcement. That confirms it is part of the expansion’s featured lineup, but the wording is not a comparative ranking and supplies no performance data. Its placement here reflects the appeal of seeing another announced Mega form, not an inference about its power.

Its inclusion gives the roster a less obvious choice than Raichu or Lucario, which makes it an interesting design prospect. The cited official descriptions do not disclose what changes in the form or how it functions in battle, so there is no basis here to place it above the more conspicuous two-form Raichu reveal.
7. Mega Garchomp Z
Garchomp’s Z-marked form rounds out the seven names on the official expansion page. Like Mega Lucario Z, it suggests a distinct addition to an established Mega Evolution, but the available official information does not explain what the Z designation means or what changes for Garchomp. It sits last only under this article’s novelty-and-story-interest lens; that is not evidence that it is the weakest form.
What the official announcements say about the expansion
Mega Dimension is additional story content that follows completion of the main story of Pokémon Legends: Z-A. The official expansion page describes spatial distortions appearing in Lumiose City and names Hoopa alongside the seven Mega forms. The December 10, 2025 launch announcement says Hoopa helps players venture into hyperspace. The September 12, 2025 announcement also says the additional story requires the main story to be completed.

The launch announcement calls Mega Raichu X, Mega Raichu Y, Mega Chimecho, and Mega Baxcalibur examples of powerful new Mega-Evolved Pokémon. That description does not compare them with one another or establish a strongest-to-weakest order.

Not from the official descriptions cited here. They do not provide comparative stats, move lists, ability effects, encounter requirements, Mega Stone availability beyond the Raichu X/Y distinction, or battle outcomes. Without game-specific data on those points, a power ranking would be speculation. Any future comparison should state its criteria—such as offensive and defensive stats, type and ability interactions, move access, and access to the relevant form—and distinguish those findings from design preference.
How to access Mega Dimension
The expansion’s additional story follows the main story, so completing the base game is a prerequisite to that story content. For players looking for a combined purchase, The Pokémon Company announced on September 30, 2026, that the Pokémon Legends: Z-A – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Mega Dimension bundle is scheduled for October 29, 2026, with both products on one game card. The announcement says the Nintendo Switch 2 Edition can be played on the original Nintendo Switch, but Switch 2-specific features are not included on that system. Existing owners of the Nintendo Switch 2 Edition need only purchase Mega Dimension separately. Regional availability, price, and stock are not specified here.
The September 12, 2025 announcement also describes Holo-X and Holo-Y apparel usable in both the expansion and the base game. These are apparel items, separate from the Mega Stones used for Mega Evolution.
