What Nintendo offers for free
Nintendo has announced a free extra side mission, but it is additional content for people who have completed the main story—not a way to download or play the full game for free. Nintendo Switch version
The base game is a paid Nintendo Switch release. Nintendo describes an adventure set in Lumiose City, with real-time dynamic battles and Mega-Evolved Pokémon. Nintendo UK lists October 16, 2025, as its release date.
Nintendo Switch 2 Edition
The Switch 2 Edition is a distinct edition. Nintendo describes enhanced resolution, improved performance, and smoother frame rates. Check that the listing matches your console and region before buying; the US listing combines the Switch 2 Edition with Mega Dimension, so read the included-content details carefully.

Check a claimed promotion before downloading
If you see an offer advertised as a free 48-hour download, confirm it on the Nintendo eShop for your account’s country or region. A legitimate offer page should identify the eligible game and edition, the platform, who can claim it, and the exact start and end times. A free mission, DLC announcement, or product page is not proof that the full game is temporarily free.

Download requirements and storage
Nintendo UK says downloading requires an account linked to the console, an internet connection, updated system software, and enough storage. Its product page lists 6.0 GB for the Switch download version. That is a UK listing accessed on October 8, 2026; required space can change with updates, so check the current regional product page before downloading. Nintendo UK also listed an early-purchase Luxurious Poké Ball Set bonus with a February 28, 2026 deadline; that deadline has passed.
